They don't have to pay it back if they're careful.

So it's a loan in name only.

Republicans hate social programs that benefit actual people but love giving "free stuff" to the wealthy in the form of tax cuts that benefit them the most. I bet if you broke it down the people who have plenty of stuff already are the real welfare queens.

i would love to hear you explain to a wealthy person how giving them a tax cut is the same as giving them "free stuff".

i think a lot of the "problems" will shake out when it comes time to fill out the paperwork to have the loans forgiven. I have a feeling there will be quite a few companies that end up repaying the loans.

in hindsight, what they should have done is to cover an employers payroll for all employees that were out of work due to:

1. waiting on a covid test result
2. having a positive covid test results and sick
3. not able to work because the business was closed due to state imposed quarantine restrictions.

and just bypass all of the unemployment fiascos, the higher wages for not working than working, etc.

it is a nightmare, but I finally got it figured out. I just have to wait until the "new plans" are revealed from the government after they extended the PPP thing for several months. I gathered all my information based on the original "plan" for the 8 week program.

There's damn sure no room to cheat, if anyone had that in mind. You have to provide cancelled checks, accounting trails, payroll records, quarterly payroll tax payment reports, etc.

That's the problem. They kind of made up the rules as they went, and Congress had to smack them down on a few that Congress didn't authorize.

It sounds like only those that got relatively large amounts will get real scrutiny. We hope.

i'm hearing anything over $2 million will be an automatic audit. either way, i'm prepared for an audit. hell, in order to fill all that shit out you have to be ready for an audit. i have a book put together that looks like i'm walking into a court room.

mostly, because i used all of that money back in april and may. so, what is fresh on your mind then, starts getting fuzzier as time goes on. so i already put it all together and i'm just waiting on the final instructions to see what changed.

It was a nice nod in the direction of bipartisanship. But it also perpetuates a deceptive narrative, repeated often by Republicans, that they were completely excluded from the process that resulted in Obamacare. While it is true that no Republican voted for the final bill, it is blatantly untrue that it contains no GOP DNA. In fact, to make such an assertion is like researching your ancestry and going no further back than your mother and father.

Not only were Republican senators deeply involved in the process up until its conclusion, but it's a cinch that the ACA might have become law months earlier if the Democrats, hoping for a bipartisan bill, hadn't spent enormous time and effort wooing GOP senators — only to find themselves gulled by false promises of cooperation. And unlike Majority Leader Mitch McConnell's semi-secret proceedings that involved only a handful of trusted colleagues, Obamacare, until the very end of the process, was open to public scrutiny.

Let's set the record straight. The Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (known as the HELP Committee), chaired first by Edward Kennedy and later by Christopher Dodd, held 14 bipartisan round-table meetings and 13 public hearings. Democrats on that committee accepted 160 Republican amendments to the bill. The Senate Finance Committee, chaired by Montana Democrat Max Baucus, was writing its own version of the ACA. It held 17 bipartisan round-table sessions, summit meetings and hearings with Republican senators.

Look up "RomneyCare"

Massachusetts set up a version of Obamacare while Mitt Romney was the governor. It's not like the concept is alien to the Rethugs.

It held 17 bipartisan round-table sessions, summit meetings and hearings with Republican senators.

to attempt to paint a bill that had not one single republican supporter as a bipartisan accomplishment is maybe the single dumbest thing you have ever tried to post.

The Dems should've locked them out and then shoved that bill right up their ass and smiled.
