Look at that Ambulatory-Health Care category. Not surprising. After being ill for well over a year, collapsing in my motel room and being helicoptered to a hospital in Lubbock, finally got the bill for that hour flight. $200,000. When I hadn't responded in a few months, they offered to settle for $18,000. What a racket.

With that kind of gouging, sounds like the insurance companies are lax on keeping costs down. Probably raking off a % of that whole "Ambalutory-Health Care" thing.

lax on keeping costs down? why would insurance companies want costs down? they get paid based on what things cost. the more they cost they more they make. that's a myth that they are interested in keeping costs down. a myth perpetuated by them.

maybe some large insurance companies have their corporate headquarters in Nebraska and/or Iowa and all of their national revenue goes into those states?

ie Mutual of Omaha, etc.

I remember in the Sopranos when Tony was hospitalized and some lady was a "Utilization Review Specialist" from the Insurance companies trying to keep costs down, get him released ASAP, etc. I was in for a month and never saw anyone like that. At the end I was rejecting 2/3 of all medicines they were trying to get me to take with a FU attitude.

After 30 days, I walked out of that hospital with so many antibiotics stored away, my body could kill any germs from 10 yards away.
