I think this serves a purpose to it's owner. I have something similar and I've never seen or been able to find another one like it. It's a box end wrench for a bridgeport mill drawbar that has a brass hammerhead cast around a portion of it. When you loosen the drawbar you need to give it a little whack and the brass hammer portion is more effective and does less "mushrooming" to the top of the draw bar. Some salesman gave it to boss bob and he gave it to me. What's funny is for years I couldn't find it,like 10 years. I thought it was in my friends machine shop but I couldn't find it. Over the years I've probably spent 20 hours or so searching for it. About 6 months a go I had to work on one of my kegs ball locks so I grabbed the wrench I have for that purpose and what do you know,it was my brass hammer wrench. It's been in my bathroom since I started kegging beer,around 10 years ago. The brass portion has TEC printed in the casting,but I've never seen another one or been able to find one and everyone that has ever seen this one all say they have never seen one like it. It is probably the handiest tool I own for working on a bridgeport mill.
Funny story...Went to a friends house years ago and he had all kinds of "art" on his walls. Mostly photos in B&W and mostly of his wife in various stages of undress. She was NOT something most would want to see. I am all good with guys that like the bigger girls to each their own but it's also very odd to be eating dinner in a dining room and see a photo of the wife with nothing on right behind her on the wall. No this is a regular standard box end end wrench that's typically seen on mills,I think it's 3/4" on one end and 7/8" on the other and a cylindrical brass casting has been poured around the handle near the 3/4" end. The one pictured really needs fairly concentrated effort compared to mine.After loosening you need to spin that a pretty close to 180 degrees,with mine you don't have to use the end face"s of the brass portion,I just usually use the side of the brass cylinder,so it's loosen,slip the wrench off,move it about 2 inches or so and a little whack. It's almost home made looking,but the fact that the casting has TEC imprinted makes me think a company named TEC made it. I used to show it to salesmen and other moldmakers.machinists. I even sent a photo of it to mcmaster-carr because I spoke to someone there and he said "if you send me a picture of it I can probably find another one for you". If you know mcmaster-carr you know how much shit they have,he said the same thing never saw one and he believed it was a one off thing. The salesman that gave it to my boss that we didn't know,i think he thought we molded plastic boxes so I don't know why he gave my boss the wrench. He said try it and see what you think,but then we never saw the guy again,which wasn't totally unexpected ,we built plastic injection molds,but somewhere there was a company with a similar name somewhere (at least according to the people that would call us,or in this case show up at the business)that made plastic boxes.
