there's nothing gullible about it. If you have raised a kid you know now to go apeshit crazy if something happens. You play it calm, figure things out and tell them everything will be fine. that's not some radical new concept.

Both Fauci and Woodward stated that Trump playing it down had no impact on the public health outcome. So the reasonable thing to do was to play it down so as to not cause a panic.
