Everybody seems to have an opinion but no one is giving answers. What would be your concrete solution to the problem?
"There are no solutions in life, just trade offs."

The words of a pop icon
I'm starting with the man in the mirror
I'm asking him to change his ways
And no message could've been any clearer
If they wanna make the world a better place
Take a look at yourself and then make a change

People are changing. Unfortunately, some for the worse.
How about this idea...
The invisible hand is an economic concept that describes the unintended greater social benefits and public good brought about by individuals acting in their own self-interests. The concept was first introduced by Adam Smith in The Theory of Moral Sentiments, written in 1759

It's a good thing Texas outlawed abortion.
No, we didnt
Not yet. But if SCOTUS does the suspected deed, trigger laws are already in place in Texas, Florida, and many other states. In others, there are laws that were never rescinded that the decision will allow to go back in force. And McConnell has stated that a national law is not out of the question.
But God, Guns, and Guts: may God bless America!
If you can't be a good example, you can still serve as a horrible warning.

you didn't answer my earlier question. If you think that the law that makes it illegal to kill people in a school isn't enough, but you think a law that forbids certain people from buying a particular kind of gun will work. Why do you think they break the law about killing in a school, but they will obey the law that says they can't buy a gun?

You quoted a pedophile? WTF!
Lyrics written by Siedah Garrett & Glen Ballard
Well, you did say the words of a pop icon.
Good point, I do like him as an artist yet despise him as a deviant rapist.
People with evil in their hearts, will find ways to inflict carnage regardless of their weapons of choice.
Think about the Bath School massacres from the 1920's.
His weapons were gunpowder.
The nut in Japan, chose knives to murder and severely injure as many as possible. That was just in the last 10 years.
If more laws solved problems, Reagan's war on drugs would have negated overdoses and addiction long ago.
There is no simple solution.

In NY, a lot of the attacks that are happening are by people with serious mental problems who have done similar stuff in the past.
In those cases, they need to improve treatment and intervention, up to and including detention if they've proven themselves to be dangers to society,
Instead, I've heard from police that folks that clearly have serious problems are thrown out on the streets to commit further crimes.
I would agree with you 100%.
I wish there was a simple solution, that just doesn't seem to be the case.
My understanding is that many agencies don't have the resources needed to effectively manage those types.
the problem with mental health is that you have to actually label someone as crazy. and no one wants to do that. no one wants to be that person with the scarlet letter stamp that stamps it on their forehead so that everyone knows not to sell them anything dangerous. In fact, I think that would probably be illegal in this country of HIPPA laws. Its almost a paradox.
