Speaking of Charlie,a local restaurant is honoring Detroit Tiger great Charlie Maxwell with some type of hall of fame plaque on the 20th. Charlie lives here. He came skating a long time ago and the normally very reserved owner went half nuts. This was around 1978 or so and I didn't know who he was,i didn't really follow baseball,but the owner of the rink got "sillier than a horny teenager". I run into Charlie every now and then and tell him that story. I also mentioned to him one time that they're paying the players pretty good now days,he said when he played every body had to get jobs in the off season to make ends meet. He's a pretty cool guy. I used to chase his daughter around the rink. She was pretty hot. Unfortunately I was never able to "catch" her.
