Tweet storm a-coming...

Trumps NY state taxes are being released. NY doesn't even need to leak Donnie's returns, all they need to do is take an action (announce an investigation, bring charges, etc.) because of something found specifically in the returns, and that's all the reason the House Government and Oversight Committee would need to subpoena the federal returns.

But... So far, NYT has obtained 10 years worth of Trump's tax info. Trump paid no income taxes 8 of 10 years, and took a 1B loss/write-off over the 10 years.

He's doing that weird posture again - Since someone pointed it out, I can't unsee it every time. WTF is up with that? And, does no one in this family knows how to stand or get a suit fitted? 1/2 Scoop looks like a pear or a bowling pin, and "I'm Eric" definitely inherited Two Scoops hands. Yvanka is the only one who looks like she doesn't have a rod up her ass and a blind, mentally impaired tailor.

The sprout on the right almost looks weirder standing up.

Like he's leaning back. Maybe between Trump and sprout they average out?

They have some form of family structural issue?

This is from 85-94. If I recall, he had a lot of financial trouble back then. Was even put on a restructuring budget.

Trump is dumping record deficit spending on top of an otherwise healthy economy and all he can do is match the growth we saw under Obama. But he has a plan.

Since the 2016 presidential campaign, Donald Trump’s aides and advisers have tried to convince him of the importance of tackling the national debt.

Sources close to the president say he has repeatedly shrugged it off, implying that he doesn’t have to worry about the money owed to America’s creditors—currently about $21 trillion—because he won’t be around to shoulder the blame when it becomes even more untenable.

The friction came to a head in early 2017 when senior officials offered Trump charts and graphics laying out the numbers and showing a “hockey stick” spike in the national debt in the not-too-distant future. In response, Trump noted that the data suggested the debt would reach a critical mass only after his possible second term in office.

“Yeah, but I won’t be here,” the president bluntly said, according to a source who was in the room when Trump made this comment during discussions on the debt.

Fox & Friends quickly came to President Trump's defense after a report that he racked up more than $1 billion in business losses, arguing that if anything, he comes out of the story looking great.

Trump's favorite morning show spoke after The New York Times obtained financial documents showing that Trump's businesses lost more than $1 billion from 1985 to 1994.

"He's a bold businessman, which is chronicled here," Brian Kilmeade said in response to the story. Kilmeade went on to argue that the article shouldn't "surprise anybody" and that the business practices described in the story "make sense" because Trump wanted to "take chances." He added, "And guess what? Not all of us win on everything we buy."

Brian Kilmeade attempts to explain why Trump losing a billion dollars proves he's good at business: "He's a bold businessman, which is chronicled here. ... I can't imagine having that much money, spending that much money, and being in debt. For him, it makes sense." pic.twitter.com/vn4U2rgI5G

Co-host Ainsley Earhardt took things a step further, though. "If anything, you read this and you're like, 'Wow, it's pretty impressive all the things that he's done in his life,'" she said. "It's beyond what most of us could ever achieve." Brendan Morrow

Wasn't the $1B loss already known? Wasn't it revealed during the primary elections? Or was it the main election?

Trump said that he was basically a self-made man with just a $1 million lloan from his father to get started and then we go to find out he got 400 million. And then the most smartest successful businessman God ever created lost a billion dollars in a decade.......... I don't think that was on his election portfolio

Yep. Already reported in 2016, supposed to destroy his chances. Amazing work by the MSM.

When asked if he used a $915.7 million loss in 1995 to avoid paying personal federal income taxes, Trump responded: "Of course I did. Of course I did. ... A lot of my write-off was depreciation." He added: "I pay tax and I pay federal tax too. But I have a write-off; a lot of it is depreciation, which is a wonderful charge. I love depreciation."
What sets Trump apart, however, is that not only did he claim massive, consistent losses, posting a negative adjusted gross income every year from 1985 to 1994, he did so with other people's money. By the mid-1990s, Trump had amassed millions of dollars in personal debt.
He also financed an Atlantic City casino through a bond offering that raised hundreds of millions from the public.
"Depreciation for buildings that are not suffering wear and tear, that is a generous tax benefit, every developer gets that," says Steven Rosenthal, a senior fellow at the Urban-Brookings Tax Policy Center. "But taking deductions on other people's money, that goes beyond what other real estate developers would do."
Taxpayers don't recognize income when they borrow money. But if the borrower is forgiven some or all of the debt, they need to report the difference as taxable income.
Trump seems to have aggressively worked to avoid reporting taxable income after restructuring debts, says Rosenthal.
By deducting other people's money and not offsetting those deductions at the time his debts were restructured, Rosenthal says, Trump was able to avoid paying taxes by using millions of dollars of net operating losses over several years to soak up future profits -- if there were any.
"He is misdirecting the public by focusing on deductions," says Rosenthal. "Sure, he took deductions. They were probably lawful. But he borrowed money to take those deductions. When loans were forgiven, he never picked up any income."
A question remains about the degree to which he took losses to take advantage of tax breaks. Are year over year losses typical?
"It's only typical if you're a big loser," says Rosenthal.
