The inevitable "push" conundrum.

Post by Reservoir Dog »

Over the years I have been involved in more than my fair share of spirited "discussions" over what constitutes a "push" in an NFL spread pool. It's one of those things that you just can't seem to get everyone to agree on.
So I learned a long time ago that when in doubt... defer to the experts.

Below is a screenshot of the games that have been so far and the results of those games based on the various point spreads that were available throughout the betting world. Take note that the Rams/Carolina game with a line of 3 is in gold and is listed as a "push".

There are those who would argue that anyone who took the Rams at -3 should be given a "push" but anyone who took Carolina at +3 should be given a win.
I've heard a lot of good arguments over the years for both sides of this debate, but we have to go one way or the other. Unless I hear otherwise from you guys, when I tally everything up the Rams/Carolina game will be considered a "push" for both teams.

If you have any objections to this, speak now before we get too far into the season.

I always figured it to be a loss no matter which team you picked.

3 scores, win loss push

The pushes could be used at the end as tie breakers I suppose, if any of you idiots can get that close to me.

It's a push both ways. Honestly, I've never heard anything different.

Agreed, but I am not a sports book bookie on speed dial guy.
