Not sure if this had been posted before my unceremonious rub out. Tribute video I had put together a few years ago in preparation for my favorite stock car driver retired.

Issues regarding added weight have numbered in the thousands on the local level. Sometimes, you can add weight and still be legal, but the percentage of weight moved around can exceed maximum allowable moveable weight. I recall something having to do with weight and I would think left side weight and rub rails. I know who I could ask that would remember since he was chief tech at the time. If I remember correctly, it wad an issue that was overlooked by A number of track reckon people and a great number of drivers were utilizing a method that was technically illegal, but such a petty thing. Somebody got a red ass and said something and that loophole was closed the following year. This may be what you are thinking of, but it may not even be the right driver. As I said, weight infractions or allegations of such happen all the time.

No. It was Pauch. And it was at New Egypt. And it wasn't some technicality. It was some kind of a rail that was mounted to his car and when they made him remove it, it was full of lead shot to add weight. It wasn't just some kind of "oops" thing. Other drivers had been complaining of that rail for a long time before they finally got them to remove it.HowieTheHat wrote: ↑Wed Jun 22, 2022 1:52 amIssues regarding added weight have numbered in the thousands on the local level. Never said it was an oops. What I said was it was a well known item that many others, not only at New Egypt, but at other tracks, that was knowingly overlooked by tech officials because it was felt to be a silly rule. In fact, one driver came to his defense because of the common over site by officials.Animal wrote: ↑Wed Jun 22, 2022 1:34 pmNo. It was Pauch. And it was at New Egypt. And it wasn't some technicality. it was a bar disguised to look like some type of fender protection and it was filled with lead shot. You don't see that as a blatant rule violation? You are talking about a driver that knows every single spec of anything on his car and he has a bar filled with lead shot that he is unaware of the lead shot inside it?

My point is that it wasn't a common oversight nor was it a "no big deal" oversight. The oversight was the fact that it was a bar and it was protruding from an area that wasn't supposed to have one. That's what he laughed off for months as other drivers complained. No one was prepared for the fact that it was filled with lead shot to add weight to his car and give him a racing advantage. That's the point.HowieTheHat wrote: ↑Thu Jun 23, 2022 2:49 amWhat's your point Cleave?Animal wrote: ↑Thu Jun 23, 2022 1:00 am it was a bar disguised to look like some type of fender protection and it was filled with lead shot.
