BRR under his admin account is the site admin, I'm the day-to-day forum admin to keep an eye on the mods and take care of issues as they pop up. There are some picture and video hosting sites that don't like being hot-linked to, but for the most part, most other hosting sites seem to have no problem with it. One thing that does happen, though, is hot-linking to a hosting site's image and video viewing page rather than the actual pic or vid, which you did when you first complained about it. Another thing, Hoover used some unofficial and unsupported (and old) phpBB codes that allowed a lot of odd hot-linking, yet probably also broke his phhBB setup when he upgraded. Both BRR and I agree that we don't want to do anything to add to our forum setup that would mess up how our is working.

Our media embed tag can handle dozens of different hot-link formats without a problem. If you or anyone else is having issues with hot-linking, please forward me the links, either in a forum post or a PM, and I"ll try to investigate the problem. By the way, I've found, at least in my Ubuntu desktop setup, that Chrome (or rather Chromium) displays this forum better than Firefox, but then I have a batch of protective add-ons with FF that I don't need with Chrome, likely a reason some sites' hot-links don't appear correctly. You might want to check your own setup in addition to whining here.
