its a weird play and seems as if it only works on a stock with lots of short sellers and very very very little active trading on any given day. they probably take advantage of automatic buys that kick in but not until they have run the price up some ridiculous amount. They are going to investigate the legality of it all and put in some measures to stop it from becoming used more often.
