The projections for Nov 9th are $0.35??? That can't be right.
I just googled the date again. Two sites said the 10th, one said the 9th. Either way, companies always sandbag on projections so they can deliver a beat. It becomes baked into the stock price, which is why I'm saying they need another big beat to hold the current price.

the dates are just guesses at this point based on what they did last year. they have not officially announced an earnings date yet. at least that's what i read.

Expect $100-120 price for oil (per barrel) with the related surge in energy costs pretty quick. You have been warned. Then you can ask "How's that Biden Admin war on the domestic oil industry working out"?

I just want to know when to sell it!

I understand as trying to time the market is generally a fools errand. So I'm assuming this is a long term play for you then? Its been a VERY nice rise but I've been burned with tech stocks before and I dont want it to happen again. I know from experience that these gains can disappear all too quickly. I just thought maybe you had a ceiling in mind. I've seen some things where some folks think it could be a $1000 stock.

So Upstart is down around 9% today based on a downgrade by a Jefferies analyst. The analyst thought that the stock had run up so much lately that all the future appreciation is already baked in. There has been no fundamental change in the company, or its performance. I have seen this before with other companies in the last couple of years. In short, if Upstart continues to grow at such a dynamic pace, you can almost throw valuation out the window. If their growth slows too much, then it becomes an issue. I will likely be buying more shares tomorrow morning. Do your own due diligence.

i read a good article over the week-end by a guy that really dove into the price of Upstart stock. It was a very exhaustive read, going into the various avenues of revenue and what category this company would fall into, etc. But after following all of his math and his serious research into the quarterly reports that the company has released, he decided that the stock should be valued around $415 per share. And he said it should hit that value in the next year. he didn't really say it, but i got the impression that he felt like some of the hesitancy on the stock right now was due to the unstable nature of the housing loan business in general. If we have another housing collapse, obviously it would effect Upstart since that is a lot of their market.

There is a shit ton to bitch about with Shit Show but the market aint one of 'em.

Of course, some these numbers have to be taken with a grain of salt as inflation has cut into some the "real" gains. Thats nitpicking though.

I mean the "numbers" in the context of "profits".
Since our dollar isnt "worth" as much as it was just 6 or 7 months ago because of inflation, the "profits" or "gains" that the market in general or a stock in particular have achieved are slightly less valuable; even while rising. Put it this way: a stock gaining $75 in one day today, while still good, is slightly less good than a $75 gain in one day last year. Still, in the overall discussion of the market kicking ass that is nitpicking IMHO.

Upstart reported earnings today after the market closed. They beat expectations on revenue, and earnings per share, but profitability was down this quarter do to increased expenses. The stock price is down significantly after hours. I'm listening to the conference call currently.

They plan on being more involved in mortgage and business lending in 2022. Auto loans should be significantly higher in 2022.

Also, they are projecting bigger numbers than expected for next quarter.
