And Necro is right, COVID is just like the Flu except with Covid:
  • Humans have only been building antibodies since late 2019 and the flu has been around for 1000s of years. Everyone is at risk for infection with COVID.

We only have been Vaccinating people for a month compared to over 50 years for the flu along with natural spread (millions of people are immune already to many flu strains)

Spreads easier-for a variety of reasons

If admitted to ICU Covid patients:
  • stay almost twice as long ($$$)

3x as likely to die (10x if age 11-17)

2x as likely to need breathing tubes

more likely to need ventilators, etc...than ICU admitted flu patients.
Covid has also been proven to cause more long term damage to your organs even if you do recover.

But yeah, just like the flu.

1. Never said it was like the flu, said it was only slightly higher mortality rate.
2. Missing the point seems to be the lefts forte. What you're saying is 30 to 60k people dying is just acceptable. We are concerned about what we can do about corona, personally, but not the flu. Why not? Most of the people that have actually died from corona are older and weaker, just like the flu. So why aren't those people important. Why don't we wear masks all the time to save those people? Why are 30 to 60k, just in this country alone, not important enough to social distance and wear masks, or close businesses. Why do we allow, on a personal level, for the flu to spread, when we could easily take personal accountability, and wear masks and such. Why do we say, its ok for those 30 to 60k people each year to die, when we could prevent most of it, with proper precautions. And the answer is just like I said. Its political.

Both sharks and lions can kill you, but they still remain two entirely different classes of creature. Same with the Sars-CoV-2 virus (one of many associated corona viruses) and the class of influenza viruses that can infect humans. Despite being viruses, they are almost unlike one another. Naturally how they infect a person and how that person's body will react to having the virus are also very different.

We *still* do not know what the long-term effects of having a COVID infection are. Many people get it, are sick for some amount of time, then feel better and go about with their lives. Others succumb too darn quickly. Many patients lose their sense of taste and smell, some regain them and some don't. Many seem to have lingering after-effects even after they've stopped having an active infection. A number of patients have been found to have heart, lung, liver, and brain conditions they didn't have before their infection, and there are other after-effects noticed with COVID-19 patients.

These simply are not the same in every way as a patient who's gotten over influenza has. COVID seems to cause these after-effects, influenza seems to acerbate certain existing conditions involving the heart and pancreas, but usually is not considered to be their cause in a patient. This is an important issue with the nation's healthcare system, because even if we we staunch COVID-19 infections, we will still have a large class of patients with potential medical issues that will have to be treated, and those treatments will have potentially healthy cost to be borne by someone (patient, family, society?).

As an aside topic, who among you, without recourse to sources of good medical information, would be able to guess that chicken pox and singles are caused by the very same virus, yet have a rather unconnected set of medical conditions associated with them?
If you can't be a good example, you can still serve as a horrible warning.

How are you guys missing the fucking point? You lot are saying its ok to go maskless and not social distance because 30 to 60k people is an acceptable number to let die. Not what vaccines can do, but what we the people can do. So why don't we?

Literally for the reason you just said dumbass. Are you arguing that we should impose wideranging economic lockdowns (which social distancing entails, e.g. limiting numbers in shops, public transport, indoor dining etc), due to the annual unavoidable flu season?

Are you capable of grasping the idea that there is in fact a line where unusual temporary measures are required due to unusual circumstances?

As for masks, by all means let's aim for a cultural shift to be more like the asian countries where it's simply considered rude to go out with a sniffle without wearing one. No biggy for a sane person to wear a mask.

These aren't unusual. You have something thats barely worse than the flu, yet we are shutting everything down now.

I can't answer that
Run along then.

Why not? Wouldn't it save lives? Do those lives not matter?

These aren't unusual. You have something thats barely worse than the flu, yet we are shutting everything down now.

Sure. Same with carrying guns. I get it.

You're still not grasping the idea. Since you think you're answering but not, have a nice day.
Literally and explicitly the precise opposite of my argument, you fucking idiot.

Let's see if you can wrap your tiny little mind around what I literally just said, or if you are too damn stupid to answer this question: What did I just say?
Says the person that literally missed and has missed the entire point of my posts. You still haven't answered. So you first.
