Geist's official movie/tv recommendation thread

All the news from the peanut gallery and where all the nasty trash talk fails miserably.
It can get NSFW-ish here: you have been warned!

I read that Steve Martin said he's done with acting because of OMITB.

"Dopesick"

Very unnerving, thought provoking, and harsh look at the embodiment of evil in the form of the Sackler Family.
The problem is not that there is evil in the world, the problem is that there is good. Because otherwise, who would care?

Great Yellowstone quote...

Chief: Watch out for that one
Cop son: Is she trouble?
Chief: When they look at you like that, they are all trouble

I know it's just someone's opinion but I've been reading several reviewers/critics the last several days say essentially forget House of the Dragon (prequal to Game of Thrones) HBO and check out The Rings of Power (prequel to Lord of the Rings) Amazon. It starts tonight.

Its getting so hard now days to find real facts about which shows are good. More and more we are having to rely on people's opinions.

And probably with a lot of cash being handed around under the table. It's why I take it all with a grain of salt until I can check it out myself.

HotDee isn't that bad so far, the worst part is knowing the eventual cliff the series falls off.

And the LotR show isn't even out, gotta reserve judgment until we see how woke middle earth became.

Well, if by LOTR show isn't even out you mean The Rings of Power on Amazon, that's what I'm saying. The series debuts tonight for streaming.

Just watched Elvis last night on HBO max.

I’m a huge Elvis fan, and thought the movie is great. It certainly glossed over a lot of the ugly parts of his life, but overall a good movie.

Moonfall on HBO takes a dumb plot idea and somehow twists it to be even dumber. Don't go into this movie trying to really think about it, you won't have a good time. But since there has been a shortage of big budget disaster movies recently so I'll give it an extra point for that. 5/10, turn your brain off and enjoy watching cities get mauled.

Reboot on Hulu is 5 episodes in and so far it's well written and casted - Keegan Michael Key, Johnny Knoxville, Paul Reiser. And Judy Greer shows her tits in the first episode. 9 succulent middle age nipples out of 10

Just started Episode 5 of Rings of Power on Amazon. Visually stunning. Story line is engrossing. I'll have to see if it continues. Hard to get past their obvious need to insert "Color" into the characters (if you know what I mean). It's a distraction mainly because not only is the reason obvious but it doesn't add anything to the story other than the distraction.
