Geist's official movie/tv recommendation thread

All the news from the peanut gallery and where all the nasty trash talk fails miserably.
It can get NSFW-ish here: you have been warned!

I still haven't finished the Chris Rock season. Every season is so good.
I'm gonna have to check it out. Anything it's akin to?
Each season is it's own story. There's "connective tissue" throughout each season with ties to the movie and even season-to-season.
Exactly. They even got the dark comedy down perfectly.

I was very skeptical when I heard about a Fargo series but I can't belive it could have been done any better so far.

The lawman Bass Reeves on paramount+.
The first episode I was meh, the second episode was better, by the third episode I was all in.
Give it a watch if you have paramount+ and enjoy westerns.

Lots of, obviously, clips of quality nudity through the years. They go WAY back. Heads up though: there is a fair share of dong in there too.

Fuckin' good show! It just keeps getting better.
The writing is crisp, clean, and intelligent. The plot is believable. And there's just the right amount of humor mixed in to help the show feel real.

But it's Oldman who makes this show. He was born to play this role.
He's even more disheveled this season and they're actually aging him in the show which is a nice touch as he's giving even fewer fucks as he ages.
He's also in peak form with his facetious, sarcastic insults. It's only a matter of time before someone punches him in the face.
He's still sharp as a whip and he doesn't miss a thing, but he's a little more dependent on the Slow Horses to do the grunt work.

If you like these kinds of shows, it doesn't get much better than Slow Horses.

After binge watching 3 Body Problem twice now, I have to give Netflix a tiny bit of credit. They didn't do to it what they did to The Witcher and allow the writers to tell their own story with established IP. The timeline seems to be a bit sped up and there are a few liberties taken but overall, the lore seems to be respected. It's by the creators of GoT, and to their credit, the early seasons where they had GRRM's novels as a reference were their best.

9/10, anxiously awaiting the Dark Forest season

The original Chinese movie "Three Body" is on Prime & I think Peacock. Thirty episodes long. Its a bit hard to follow since its mostly in Chinese and you really have to pay attention to the close-captioning.
