Steven Spielberg's "West Side Story" is watchable, but it's not as good as the original.

Eh, I liked it. And I think the woman that played Maria is going to go far.

Watched Vikings Valhalla S1E1 last night. You guessed it from Hollywood. The new leader of Katticut is a black woman. I know they take some historical liberties with these shows but I'm pretty sure that in Norway in the 11th century the black population was 0.000%. JC

I see the Canadian education system is real strong on their early European history. Right ahead of math it seems.

Hell, the original Vikings series was bad enough with their women fighting bravely in battle along side the men. I get their ratings dilemma, but there was no "Shield Maidens". Not one single historical note of any female Viking warriors. I'm pretty sure someone would have mentioned that.

On that note, I watched a Canadian show called Murdoch Mysteries. The coach of the Raptors was in the episode.
They have an black open gay guy that walks free amongst the town (They all know he is gay) and occasionally bangs some of the dudes. Today, no big deal. But my guess, in the late 1800s, this was not an accepted practice even in liberal Canada.

Look, I get it. There has always been contrived historical inaccuracies in movies and TV shows since there have been movies and TV shows. A way to advance the story without getting bogged down with historical details. But, there is a huge difference between that and what Hollywood is doing now which I can only call "forced diversity". It is, as usual, doomed to fail because people are watching to be entertained, not preached to.

The wife and I binged the three seasons of "Barry" with Bill Hader, and enjoyed every damn episode of the series. It is a black comedy, a "dramedy", but blacker than it is laugh out loud funny. It's more of a deep-gut groaning funny. Hader is a private assassin whose latest job puts him into an acting class run by The Fonz (Winkler). And the plot just unravels from there. Barry tries to leave his profession, but simply can't. It's bloody and violent, and the comedy is found in the dark edges of all the nastiness. Barry tries to do good, and is forced almost every time to violence. Great show!

Season 3 is high on our list of the next thing to watch. We are plodding through Downton Abby right now.

Just starting S1E4 of "Night Sky" on Amazon. Struggling elderly couple (Sissy Spacek, JK Simmons) find a portal in their shed. They use it to go look at stars from some other place in the Universe. Other people use it as a transport portal. Low budget- low tech (so far). Interesting story line. Too early to recommend or not.

At the opening of the first episode, the character that plays Mary got out of bed in a sheer sleep gown that you could pretty much see her tits and pussy. I thought that was promising but there ha not been any gratuitous nudity or any hint of nudity since then. It is a high budget soap opera. It is my punishment for watching Al of the drug cartel series. It is tolerable though.

I'm a *huge* fan of that show but the scene with the Termite in ep1 almost made me throw in the towel on the entire season.
