Seismic lines for monitoring a live well frack in real-time.

So, Hydro. Fill me in on this. I don't know anything about 3-D seismology other than the basics. Is this a 3D image of a horizontal frack job in progress?Hydroseismic wrote: ↑Fri Jul 29, 2022 4:18 pm

Yeah, I want to get some details on this. I really want to know if it's a horizontal frack. If it's what I think I'm looking at, a real game changer in fracking.
Yes, that's an aerial photo of the surface geophone locations.
It is indeed a horizontal frack. The frack itself provides the energy for the geophones. The doghouse on-site gathering the data transmits it to Houston where it's processed and viewed in real time allowing them to make adjustments quickerCentralTexasCrude wrote: ↑Sun Jul 31, 2022 4:58 pmYeah, I want to get some details on this. No fucking shit. That is mind blowing amazing. Like the next technology leap in 3D seismology. Can I assume the green rectangle is the well/drill site, the yellow circle is the fracking location and the red circle is the doghouse on-site gathering station? Viewed in real time- unbelievable.Hydroseismic wrote: ↑Sun Jul 31, 2022 5:45 pmIt is indeed a horizontal frack. The frack itself provides the energy for the geophones. Rectangle is the frack pond, yellow circle is the two wells, the red dot is where I was on the map. I've seen the live feed but it's beyond my scope.CentralTexasCrude wrote: ↑Sun Jul 31, 2022 10:41 pmNo fucking shit. That is mind blowing amazing. Like the next technology leap in 3D seismology. Ok, thanks. I can see the smaller frack pond off to the right. All frack jobs are done "blind". They know where to frack and perhaps what side of the formation needs the most attention but they have no way to judge how good a frack job was done until the production numbers start coming in. If what I think you are talking about is going on, they can monitor the frack job in real time and adjust accordingly to get the best formation breakup possible. Totally amazing technology leap.Hydroseismic wrote: ↑Mon Aug 01, 2022 2:25 amRectangle is the frack pond, yellow circle is the two wells, the red dot is where I was on the map. It is, I've seen 3D subsurface renderings that would knock your socks off. Amazing detail. There's two different operators on this lease, I'm assuming at different zones. I wonder how they keep from blowing out those vertical wellsCentralTexasCrude wrote: ↑Mon Aug 01, 2022 5:59 pmOk, thanks. I can see the smaller frack pond off to the right. I'm not sure how it is in texas cause that frack water is not drinkable. The water table should be isolated by the casing and formation but you never know.Charliesheen wrote: ↑Mon Aug 01, 2022 6:20 pm In California that pond water has to be treated to a level where it can be introduced into wastewater systems. Even the water you hit has to be cleaned up. Boron, selenium, heavy metals, whatever, all your problem.
Pits are required to be lined by thick plastic lining and after so much time for normal evaporation, the remaining amount has to be hauled off to the appropriate locations like a disposal well. Water table is always sealed off by casing. Of everything that is done to a well from start to finish, you never ever screw up the casing job at the beginning. The amount of liability for polluting the water table is off the charts.Hydroseismic wrote: ↑Mon Aug 01, 2022 6:26 pmI'm not sure how it is in texas cause that frack water is not drinkable. You don't have to try.
The map is 2D. The technique is 3D. I've said for almost a decade that fracking and horizontal drilling gets all the "atta boy" for this production revolution when it's actually 3D seismology that may stand as equal or above.
