Re: March Madness
I was reading this morning that only 1% of all brackets are still intact.hawkfan8812 wrote: ↑Fri Mar 18, 2022 5:26 pm Gotta love a 15 beating a 2 to ruin the entire world's brackets. LMFAO

when Warrent Buffet decides its a smart move to risk $1 million for anyone that can complete a flawless bracket, you know the odds are unsurmountable.

i read the statistical odds a few years ago when buffet had that contest. I can't remember now what they were, but your odds of finding a gold nugget in a big mac are probably greater.Reservoir Dog wrote: ↑Sat Mar 19, 2022 7:07 pmThere are NO unbroken brackets left in Yahoo. Millions of brackets... all broken.
Okay, I looked it up again. Diregarding "seeds", your odds of a perfect bracket are 1: 9 quintillion. 1: 9,000,000,000,000,000,000. (18 zeros).
If you do take into account good knowledge of basketball and the seeds, then the odds go down to 1: 120 billion.
To put these odds into perspective, if we randomly chose one grain of sand from somewhere on the earth and then asked you to go out into the earth and locate the exact grain of sand that we had chosen, your odds of finding the right one on the first try are 23 times greater than having a perfect bracket.

Re: March Madness
Not a single "buzzer beater" to win any tournament game feels like a statistical anomaly.
The problem is not that there is evil in the world, the problem is that there is good. Because otherwise, who would care?
