The best duet ever written in this genre in my opinion, sung by the best two singers born to sing it! Even Pavarotti could not out do Bocelli on this one I believe.

I've always thought some of the vocal shift of great vocalists from the past had something to do with the microphone. Artists still prefer the old microphone designs for tone but there something about the elite vocalists of the era that just made the inner workings vibrate in a different way that gave that haunting depth of their vocals.

they could also moderate the volume of their voice by how they held the microphone.

This YT vid explains how Hatfield's voice was so spot-on during the whole song. He apparently had a sore throat, and his mother was in the audience and he didn't want to disappoint her.
