General George Meade - 1883
Captain Kidd - News of the World
Captain Krause (Navy Captian) - Greyhound
Captain Chesley Sullenberger (Airline pilot) - Sully
Captain Richard Phillips (Freighter Captain) - Captain Phillips
Captain Miller - Saving Private Ryan

He's been in almost 90 movies.
What about Apollo 13. Wasn't Jim Lovell a Captain?
I don't know. I'll have to look that up.
He was. In the US naval rank (or rate) system, a captain is at pay grade O-6, which for land and air services (Army/Air Force/Marines) is the grade of a colonel. The US Coast Guard also uses the naval pay grades. So a naval captain outranks an Army captain.
That makes sense. Astronauts were all pilots in the pre-Space Shuttle years.
He wasn't (as far as I can research) a naval captain until his last space mission, until then he was a commander (O-5), which is equivalent to the Army's/Marines' lieutenant colonel.
If you can't be a good example, you can still serve as a horrible warning.

For the record, Hanks wore a uniform in The Green Mile. I think his title was Commanding Officer of Death Row.

just watch the one with kurt russell. I shook hands with Elvis and liken it to taking the first step on the moon. Not many people can honestly claim they shook hands with Elvis, but I did. April of 1977 but I remember it like it was last night.

where?
if you mean where was I when I shook hands with him I was at wings stadium in Kalamazoo Michigan (now wings event center and now owned by my old high school principal) for his concert and I had second row seats in front of the stage. At the end of the show when he's waving "adios" to people the lady that took me told me to "march right up there and get him to shake your hand" so I went up there and held my hand up and closed my eyes and I was saying "please shake my hand" and when I opened my eyes he was right there smiling at me and gave me a quick shake. He had a pretty difficult time bending down. Then a couple of his guys came out and helped him walk off stage. I came unglued.
If you mean where to watch the movie with Kurt Russell you can probably watch it thru some pay per view service.
