Haha! That's a good idea, but I have a roof and all the internal parts like the captains seats, couch, and ladder for the top I'll have to see what the boyfriend could fashion in the way of a pole.stonedmegman wrote: ↑Tue Apr 02, 2024 11:43 am Without a roof you'll need a crossbar to hold the stipper pole.

The home improvement places carry brass rod, I think 1/4 inch rod would work well for that. Maybe mold a base out of clay or file it down so that you create a shoulder and can put a washer on it, put threads on it and install a nut underneath the chasis.disco.moon wrote: ↑Tue Apr 02, 2024 1:45 pmHaha! Thanks. I need to make more of these, it sold really fast. I have some old wrought that I'm going to try with again and see if I can forge weld in the bit. That one was solid leaf spring and hickory handle.

Re: Recent projects
Quick question. Why do you have the handle tapering going into the axe head? Shouldn't it be the other way around to make it harder for the axe head to fall off?Blast wrote: ↑Tue Apr 02, 2024 3:43 pmThanks. I need to make more of these, it sold really fast. Re: Recent projects
I did cut down another handle and ground it to where I wanted it. I need to get some straight hickory logs to make them from scratch.
I liked the look and left it like that otherwise another minute or so of grinding and that would have been gone.

9 railroad spike knives forged in 2 hours on the twitch stream tonight. That beat my ass with the heat. How do you southern fuckers handle it? Must have been 120 by my forge.

Here is the last set of roses I made. Did one finished in coopper paint, beeswax and brass, and rainbow heat oxidation. Haven't been able to keep them in stock.

Those look great. I can see why they're top sellers.

Re: Recent projects
I can ship them and i've been selling them for 110 each. I've gotten pretty good at getting the heat oxidation colirs to pop, the gold purple, and blues. Tried something new with the copper paint and the third is heat blackened and brushed with a brass brush. Gives it some phenomenal color contrasts.

Re: Recent projects
Went to a Hammer-in yesterday. While chatting with a friend there he brought up the idea of a friendly competition where we each build a zombie killer weapon, bring it to the fall conference next v year and let other members vote on who make the better weapon. I'm totally on board and started the design process this morning. I'll be making a halberd, designed length with be 6 foot with a skeletonized ax on one side an 18 inch long blade in the middle and a fork off to the other side. The bottom of the staff will have either a cast bronze skull or a flanged mace. This is not going to be an easy build, but damn I like my plan so far. When I get it drawn out better I'll post it and I'll do a photo journal of my progress. It's going to b take me the better part of a year to do this, but damn it'll be fun.
