If Harris gets fired I'm calling it right now: Newsome is their guy. Dim leadership wants him to be the heir. He bent the knee and very publicly said he wont challenge Biden in 2024. But what if he doesnt have to?
Heres the scenario:
Biden runs again with Newsome as VP...wins and immediately steps down elevating Newsome. And just like that California politics come to DC.
The challenge to this theory: 2 white guys at the top of the ticket in a party that is based entirely on identity politics. Newsome would have to have a very very public "special advisor" that just so happens to be a black woman so the immediate thought is that she would be his VP should Biden step down. Expect lots of gushing media stories to keep her top of mind.
