Re: Astros
Also have a first tonight. While the Astros play the Phillies tonight in Philadelphia in the WS, Eagles play the Texans tonight in Houston on TNF.

This is the seventh time a World Series and NFL game take place on the same day, involving the same two metro areas, and first since 2011.CentralTexasCrude wrote: ↑Thu Nov 03, 2022 9:26 pm Also have a first tonight. I'm not an Astros hater but I do agree with Bauer that Bregman is a little twerp.
Good pitching always beats good hitting. I am rooting for Phils to make myself feel better by thinking Pads lost to eventual champs but otherwise can care less who wins.
I can see Phils get hot in that Cracker Jack field in Houston. This isn't over.

Also, the stadium in Philly seats 43,000 and in Houston 41,000. So don't know where the cracker Jack field comes from.

Re: Astros
surely you don't think they rank MLB park's based on attendance numbers? And surely B1Down doesn't think the Astros park is near the top of being an easy park to hit in. It probably ranks in the middle at best.CentralTexasCrude wrote: ↑Fri Nov 04, 2022 8:49 pmI guess I'm missing something. Bauer is a Dom who used to pitch in the MLB. Now he is an influencer. He likes to make fun of Bregman and his fans. I am starting to see his points.CentralTexasCrude wrote: ↑Fri Nov 04, 2022 8:49 pmI guess I'm missing something. I was talking about the dimensions. Mostly the short left field porch and wall. Flumpy is right though. The park is close to middle if pack but still leans hitter friendly overall.

It's hitter-friendly left and right. But 409 ft to center ain't doing the hitters any favors.Burn1dwn wrote: ↑Fri Nov 04, 2022 10:23 pmBauer is a Dom who used to pitch in the MLB. Re: Astros
You guys should have seen the Astros play in the Astrodome. Holy hell. Talk about some long dimensions in the outfield. Plus, the air conditioning was blowing against the hitters.

And no, the air conditioning wasn't blowing against the hitters. That's just stupid.

The Astrodome was a pitcher's park. The ball didn't carry. Back then, with the astroturf, the idea was keep the ball on the ground and use the running game.Reservoir Dog wrote: ↑Fri Nov 04, 2022 10:54 pm325 375 400 375 325 looks pretty standard to me.CentralTexasCrude wrote: ↑Fri Nov 04, 2022 10:39 pm You guys should have seen the Astros play in the Astrodome. Some people just don't know jokes. Don't forget that the elevation of the A-Dome was probably 60 feet above sea level. As far from Denver as you could get.Animal wrote: ↑Sat Nov 05, 2022 1:03 amexcept for the gale-like gusts from the air conditioner.CentralTexasCrude wrote: ↑Sat Nov 05, 2022 12:05 amBingo. Re: Astros
Since the Astrodome was the first indoor stadium, the joke is as old as it is. 2 College football teams meet to play in the Dome for the first time. At the coin toss, the side that won elects to kick. The ref asks the other team what side of the field they want to receive. They say "We'll take the air conditioning at our backs".

Like when a young child decides to say something outrageous for "shock value" and while the horror is processed by adults, they chirp, "JUST KIDDING HAHAHAHAHAHAH". Like it absolves them of consequences. Kind of like religious confession.
The problem is not that there is evil in the world, the problem is that there is good. Because otherwise, who would care?
