Rangers aren't exactly known for their wise investments in baseball.

I think deGrom likes that Texas doesn't have state income tax.

I've heard gripes about their property taxes.
Though NJ's are the highest I think.
P.S. If DeGrom plays as much for the Rangers as he did for the Mets the last couple of years, this contract will look putrid.

The Mets now appear to be going after Verlander and Carlos Rodon according to Mets news sources. But other sources say Verlander may resign with the Astros. And Rodon will sign with the Yankees. We'll see.

If the rumors are true, the Pads offered that much in contracts in a few days. The MLB money is nuts nowadays.

I'm actually ok with the Pads not getting Judge. Turner I would've liked to have signed, but sheesh that was a lot of money.

I'm good with missing out on both but nice to see them continue to be willing to spend money.
Extending Soto would make me happier than signing either of those dudes to more huge contracts. They need to spend money on pitching eventually.

Someone with the willingness to research frivolity, I find this surprising.

It's good to get another guy that hits for average but the owners are running the Padres like its FTX. Holy shit this is crazy.

I still remember how amped I was when we got Myers, Kemp and Shields just to lose almost 90 games. This feels like an alternate universe.

You're gonna LOVE Bogaerts.
Fucking shame how the Red Sox treat their "home grown" talent. Embarassing.

It looks to me that Seidler and Preller see a window for the Pads to get to the W.S. They only control Soto for two more years, Manny has a opt out, and Darvish isn't getting any younger.

I'm excited to see him. It seems like Red Sox should have traded him at deadline if they were not going to pay him. Maybe he had a no trade clause along with his opt-out.
Here is an interesting take. Padres are the new Red Sox.

They were 3rd and then 5th in attendance the past 2 seasons. If the fans keep supporting the team, maybe they can make this work for a bit. It definitely doesn't seem sustainable but is a lot more fun than watching them collect
Prospects and trade away real talent.
