I'd like to see a breakdown of salary per game played in a season.

Roster size has a lot to do with it.
Cricket = 11
NBA = 15
NHL = 23
MLB = 40
NFL = 53
The larger the roster... the less money for each player.

yeah, because we know how grueling it can be for those baseball guys that might have to bat 5 or 6 times every game and then catch a few balls.

So Carr used the no-trade clause in his contract and informed the Raiders that he would not accept a trade to any team.
That forced the Raiders to outright cut him before his $40 million in guaranteed money kicked in.
Now Carr is free to sign with any team he wants and the Raiders will get nothing for him.

The Raiders have just enough cap space to do it.
