I'm pretty sure "No Country for Old Men" doesn't qualify- It won Best Picture, Best Director. It is written by Cormac McCarthy. It has my old hometown of Iraan and Yates Field in it. In the book, the "flip the coin" scene with the clerk was set in Sheffield, which is 15 miles S of Iraan. Check out another McCarthy based movie- "All the Pretty Horses". Stars Matt Damon and Penelope Cruz. Directed by Billy BobThornton.

Flip the coin scene was epic.Woody Harrison did a better job than expected.CentralTexasCrude wrote: ↑Thu Mar 16, 2023 10:11 pmI'm pretty sure "No Country for Old Men" doesn't qualify- It won Best Picture, Best Director. Does "Out of Sight" qualify?

Re: Massively under-rated movies
"The Road"- easily the most depressing movie ever made. Released to theaters over the Christmas holidays. Brilliant

"The Road" is one of only 3 Cormac McCarthy books ever put on film. The other 2 are "All the Pretty Horses" and "No Country for Old Men". I wish someone would get around to filming his best, it's perfect for a screen adaptation- "Blood Meridian".
