along the lines of mentally ill - Mayor Eric Adams has radical new ideas and plans to remove (physically if necessary) mentally ill homeless folks off the streets of NYC after several violent attacks on the public. I'm actually in favor of this idea. He's a douchey star-fucker but maybe he could get the violent crazies off NYC streets.

Do you think in the last 30+ years that humans are having more mental illness? What about all those days of the terrifying psyche wards and institutions.. we didn't have such problems. What is different about modern society? Video games? Porn? Wtf??!!

would it be possible, after an event like this happened, that there was no mention whatsoever of the person that did it? We can talk all day long about the school or the rules that were in place or the laws over guns or which door was locked of how the teachers reacted or the cops. But just never mention at all who did the crime. Nothing.

There's a push to get people to stop talking about the shooters saying discussion glorifies their actions.

it not only glorifies their actions, it allows them a way to go out with their face on the news. They just want recognition for something. they want everyone to know who they are and remember them for something.

there is no point to the shooting other than that. if that was removed there would be absolutely no reason for them to even think of it in the first place. When children are killed, they never release the names until the parents are notified and agree. Reporters respect that and don't print the names even if they know the names. Why can't they do the same for these shooters.

It's just incredible to me that because this asshole wanted attention and notoriety she killed people. It's just so fucking out there.

i heard on the news that when she left the house that morning her mom started to ask her "what is in your backpack". Now, aside from the obvious parts of that sentence, the one that struck me was that a 28 year old person was leaving a house with her mom in it and her mom gave a shit what her 28 year old daughter was wearing.

Until 30 years ago or so, we all (most) had a common enemy (Russia and Communism) in a decades long life and death struggle- that literally could end all life on Earth. Since then boredom. Every next generation since the 1770's had a chance for more opportunities and to be more prosperous than their Parents. That ended 20 years ago. Feeding on itself now. We used to be a large but compact Country working toward a common goal. Then everybody rushed in- just passed 1/3 Billion people. Phil Collins- "too many people making too many problems". Obvious effort over the last half century to break down the decency, goodness, family unit that the entire Country was based on. Society used to be a well tuned sports car, now it has a couple of loose tires, missing on a cylinder or more and belching black smoke. JC, the list is endless.

We used to celebrate people that we felt were doing great things for our society and Country. Scientists, Engineer's, educators, test pilots whatever. Then the lawyers rushed in to feed at the trough. It was understood that some people excel while others would fail, no matter the tools you gave them. Then someone came up with the "Everybody gets a participation trophy" idea. Now everything is reduced to the lowest common denomination so nobody gets left out no matter the consequences. Blacks that try to get ahead get called "Uncle Tom" for example. Men were reduced from father figures of prosperous households to a billfold to be mocked.

Anything beyond a certain norm was not only frowned upon but condemned. Now with the internet and the best intentions of the parents (if there are more than one) I'll let you guess the % of 14 year Olds (male or female) that have seen hundreds of videos of people getting killed or murdered in REKT videos, gang rapes, scat videos. etc. It leads to a total loss of felt human decency down to the whole core of society. It's actually pretty amazing that things aren't a lot worse.

In the realm of the increase of school shootings i feel there's a mountain of factors that contribute.

Neglectful checked out parents, bullying, low-self worth, influences from entertainment and the internet. There's a plethora of outlets for hate and negativity and popularity. Maybe some of them get a false sense of ego from the shit they expose themselves to. Obviously easy access to guns is another factor.

The desire for fame, the mental health crisis, and the drugs they're putting everyone on combine to a nasty little mental health time bomb. The roll of media, social and regular, is also mixed in with the constant calls for everyone to be terrified of everything all the time. This can cause a bleak outlook on life and with no downside sobe they are dead remove normal mental roadblocks from this path.
Guns aren't the only way. Lets not forget the asshole who ran over the Christmas parade or the truck attacks in other locations.
