Cool. Are you going to do fresh water or salt water?

Just sticking with fresh. 25 years ago I had a 108 gallon with a pair of Motoro stingrays. I'm leaning towards that or cichlids.

This is the Motoro.

I paid $350 for a pair, male and female, in 1998. They were 8" round and 18" with their tails. My $2.99 Plec, who grew to 19" in the big tank, killed the male. I was livid.

The Pleco must have been quite hungry.

They have a gel coating on their bodies and need it to survive. The Plec took a liking to it.

My suggestion is African Cichlids. Perfect for a 125.

Here is my current 125 setup.

I don't have the persistence to keep up an aquarium. I applaud those who do. Those shits are cool AF!

Congrats on the tank.

Sweet.
I have to look at my filtration options before going forward. It turns out this tank is tempered glass, so drilling for an overflow tube is out of the question.

I'm running two Fluval FX6 on this. If I could do it all over, I would do a drilled tank and a sump system. Much easier maintenance and outstanding filtration.

you got an excellent deal especially with lights included. Had 150 gal.salt tank for over 20 years ,miss it but not the maintenance . Do fresh tanks use a skimmer? Having a large tank is easier to maintain I think. Having a tank is like being a biologist ,a chemist,a nutritionist and veterinarian all in one but a good tank setup is hypnotic.

Indeed. The tank alone is $600 and up. Freshwater doesn't use a protein skimmer or ozone generator. Much easier to look after. And a large tank is much more stable with temp, pH and everything else.

Serious question- what is the practical use for this? Home protection?

Yup. The shockwave cycles 1.75" shells which helps prevent over-penetration.

So you just maim them instead of killing them? Are you really that paranoid?

A 12 gauge slug even from a short shell is going to do a lot more than maim. I'm not sure where you live but city blacks tend to get uppity.

GD, it's good to see you still posting Dude. Last of the overseas left. Probably re-watches Braveheart at least twice a month.
