Just a reminder folks that your solar eclipse glasses need to be ISO 12312-2 compliant, CE certified, and AAS approved (American Astronomical Society).
They are readily available and not expensive.
Helioclipse, Kesseph, Celestron, and Soluna are all good brands.

I think I'll be gassing up and stocking up on food a few days before.

Just want to enjoy this once in a lifetime experience. But NO. Media won't shut up with the BS gloom and doom. Depending on which you read, the eclipse will cause "Cell phone coverage to collapse in the affected area", "Mayhem as people get run over by cars during the 5 minutes of darkness", or my all time favorite "Texas power grid in danger of collapse due to solar farms being shut down for 5 minutes". I think that's adding in some factor of safety. I think you technically only need 12. i will know more after i either burn my eyes or don't.nerd_alert wrote: ↑Fri Mar 29, 2024 3:23 amAccording to this article, you need at least 14.peterosehaircut wrote: ↑Fri Mar 29, 2024 2:53 amYeah that's what I do, I put on a welding helmet.Animal wrote: ↑Thu Mar 28, 2024 6:45 pmthey didn't have any 14. i got a 13 about a week ago, so i have the 13 and 12. they don't restock very often. Just trying to give some safety advice. Think about how upset you'll be if you burn out your eyes and then Disco posts some booby pics!Animal wrote: ↑Fri Mar 29, 2024 12:34 pmI think that's adding in some factor of safety. i know from experience that you need to use at least a 12 shade welding glass to view disco's booby pics. probably a 14 for her ass.nerd_alert wrote: ↑Fri Mar 29, 2024 4:11 pmJust trying to give some safety advice. The current forecast for the eclipse is heavy cloud cover and 60% chance of rain. For almost the entire state.

I know that dark is dark. But, holy shit. a once in a life time event and you want to see the whole thing as it happens. At least my plans are nothing more than a drive in a side by side out into a high pasture on my ranch. Not some big event with lots of people coming.

Headed south to Peterborough for an MRI that day. 99 percent totality there.

you are just lucky that you have health problems that require you to get an MRI on that exact day.
