It sucks. A perfect world would give us fact based news with no bias free of charge.
Government subsidizing the news certainly isnt the answer as NPR continues to prove.
These outlets are businesses and businesses need to make money in order to survive. Personally, I'd rather fight through a couple ads than pay a fee. But then even ad based revenue can lead to questions. It just sucks all around.

CNN times me out the other day and said i had to subscribe to continue looking. I typically go to CNN.com and scan the days news. Apparently, if you click pages, a counter starts and once you hit 10 or 15 it stops you for the day unless you subscribe.

BUT.............what pisses me off even worse are the fake news stories that are really ads. They make you think there has been some breakthrough on some product and its really just click bait. It reminds me of those news paper ads that pretend to be a news article about something but the font is just a little off and you realize its an ad.

You can usually bypass many (but not all) paywalls and counters by opening a link in incognito or privacy mode, depending on your browser. The link opens in a kind of Tor-like environment. For that matter, you could install and run Tor, and tons of paywalled sites around the world will be open to you.

Tor works great.

Read an hilarious article earlier this week. Some whistlblower announcing that NPR holds extreme leftist/ liberal bias. NPR put out a statement strongly denying the accusation.

It's all just click bait at this point. And Cronkite, Huntley, Morrow etc are all rolling in their Graves on what happened to their once proud "defenders of democracy " promise. $$$

he must have been crying when Meta tanked Friday. What is that stock down, 20% or so since he has been buying?
