broadcast the National Anthem on air. I'm cool with it being performed at the event, but there is no real reason to show it on T.V.

Nope.

It's a relatively new thing. The military paid for some of it for a number of years. I remember a lot of years you would only see it in the Super Bowl, or World Series.

For our teams they only really show it on TV if its someone of note performing the anthem. Otherwise its more commercial time.

If they have a sponsor for it they'll show it. If they don't have a sponsor for it they won't show it.
It's all about money.
Why show the national anthem for free when there's a car company that will give you half a million dollars for the time slot?
