if you don't know who jocelyn is and you google her, be forwarned what you see will probably disturb you. I'm guessing if you haven't ever seen her your first thought may be burn it with fire but she's dead now so hopefully you only see her in your dreams. Linda Lavin, starred as Alice a single working mother trying to raise her teen son while working at Mel's diner. The thing I think most ironic (I guess that's the word forit?) I don't think anyone remembers anything "Alice" ever did or said on the show but I'm guessing everyone here, at least once in their lifetime has said "kiss my grits" and that was flo's line.
My buddy the engineer cheap skate got back from taking his wife to Florida and went back to balancing his 2 motorcycle tires that he's been balancing for about the last 3 months. I told him seems like it would be quicker and easier just to take the tires to a shop and have them balance them. Bad suggestion "DO YOU KNOW WHAT THAT COSTS!!! yOU MUST THINK I HAVE YOUR KIND OF MONEY". This from a guy with a home here and a home in Florida, just for the heck of it called cycle shop near me, $15 per tire computer balanced. He's probably got 100 hours or so into balancing them. He first built a fixture to spin the tires on then he made wheel weights that attach to the spokes. He also had trouble getting the tire all the way on the rim, he hadn't noticed that at first so he had to start over on that one but while trying to get the tire all the way on his prybar punched a hole thru the innertube. I laughed my ass off "guess youll have to spend some money now" His response "I think that can be patched. Those innertubes are $17" so he called me a while a go, "I'll be in the barn all day" Balancing tires no doubt. He started putting that together 8 years ago. My guess is he's got about another 3 or 4 years and he'll be done with it, won't be long now.

I understand that Lavin developed quite an attitude on the show "Alice" just because both Flo and Mel got such good lines and their own small story arcs, and her character which the showed was all about basically played the straight man to the side characters. It was one apparent reason Flo was pushed onto her own spin-off that failed miserably to catch on, as it got Flo out of the way. That was a big difference to Seinfeld where he appreciated the side characters and developed out their own story arcs, even if Seinfeld's own character suffered.
If you can't be a good example, you can still serve as a horrible warning.

my thought to your response was "ooh, mr. serious" but then I realized it almost seems like a legitimate response to try to start serious conversation. But yeah, I think Wayne Rogers, I think it was him, trapper on MASH, I think he quit the show for that same reason, he just wasn't getting good lines. How about that, a nearly serious conversation with the old J-Bird! Although if my mom saw me stating that she would say "don't stick your jaw out so much when you talk" because I have a slight underbite, it's because my bottom jaw is a little too big, my son's friend was that way about 15 years ago and he had surgery, cut out a portion of bone on each side but when it was all said and done, I didn't think the kid looked different. Same thing with my mom, she had a facelift about 40 years ago, after that she looked like someone bashed her face repeatedly with a baseball bat, took a few weeks to heal, but all said and done I didn't see a difference, my dad couldn't see a difference, but my mom thought it did a world of good. So, happy wife, happy life.

I never understood the praise for Lavin. She was the most boring character on a show where she was the main character. I never saw anything that made me say, "Wow, she's a great actress". JMHO

Aside from Newman and Kramer,Seinfeld show was painful to watch,I don't think I ever got past 10 mins before turning it off..any show the relies on a 'laugh track' to enhance jokes or story line is just not funny to begin with a laugh track only makes that more apparent. Cheers had a live studio and the laughs were genuine. A much better show.

I always wondered why Floyd, the barber, didn't get a spin off show. Gomer got one.

It's because Howard McNear, the actor that portrayed him, had a stroke that paralyzed his left side. From Wikipedia:

"In 1961, McNear was cast as the vague, chatty barber Floyd Lawson on The Andy Griffith Show. In 1963, he suffered a stroke that rendered most of the left side of his body paralyzed.[10] He left the series for nearly a year and a half to recover. Andy Griffith asked McNear to return to the series. McNear agreed despite being unable to walk or stand, and the production crew accommodated him accordingly. Floyd was subsequently seen onscreen either seated or standing with support.[4] Many scenes were shot with him sitting on a bench outside the barber shop, as opposed to trimming hair as before. In most of his post-stroke scenes, McNear's left hand would be holding a newspaper or resting in his lap, while he moved his right arm and hand as he spoke his lines. In a 1964 episode, "Otis Sues the County", McNear's character is heard, but not seen, walking into the courthouse; the next scene shows Floyd already seated in a chair.}

i thought you were going to bring up Howard Sprague. Who was a terrible character. Mayberry RFD was just a disaster.

some time ago there was a thread I guess about really bad tv shows (I guess) but I had mentioned Dusty's trail, that was basicly Gilligans Island but they were traveling thru the old west, and some type of comedy / drime deal/ I think TJ Hammer or something? Don't remember it now but at the time of the orig. post is when I firts saw that hammer or whatever and it was 20 years old or something at the time but that is a show I never remembered seeing. I did watch Dusty's trail a while back, for about a week or so they were showing it and then they stopped, I think maybe they showed all the episodes there was?
Off topic, hold on to your hats, if you ever watch Billy the exterminator, I like his mom ! Yes, I'm serious, I think for being an "Old dried up bitch boy!" (as Arnold may say) she seems pretty hot. I bet she'd be alot of fun "in the sack".
Another thing I purchased teenage tramp, I think that was the name of it, drive in flick from the 70's, not very good, really seemed like the mixing together of 3 movies that were never completed. I'm now going to try to find "Shaggy Tramp" the radio ad "Shaggy Tramp, was she too old at 14, no one under the age of 16 can enter without adult supervision, armed guards will be present to confirm viewer ages" Sounds like a good one, almost as good as "Billy the Kid meets Dracula" Now that was a good one!

the movie i want is actually called "shanty tramp" the radio ad I'll have to see if I can find, because I swear it says shaggy tramp, but when they say shaggy tramp, they put a pretty heavy echo/reverb type effect to it. But prime video I guess has it, it states something about watch on MUBI?? so anyway, I'm amazed it didn't win any awards. I'll offer a review hopefully. I'm going to attempt to rent it.

that was it, probably back before the china virus started. They only showed it for a week or 2 seems like every weeknight around 2 in the morning, but it was only maybe 3 or 4 episodes so if you were watching in a period of 2 week you may see the same episode 3 times. Just a low budget station that I get.
