I got a new modem/wireless router

I got a new one , my internet went out so i called my provider and they said it was their problem not mine and a tech guy came and said he switched something somewhere and I'll get a little more speed, but then my old modem wouldn't connect and he said it was because it was really old, which it is, maybe 15 years or something. So he gave me a new one and my 3 laptops and my tv all connected to it and work fine. But , my desktop computer will disconnect from wifi after about a minute or so, and when I try to reconnect it states it can't connect. So I reboot the computer, select my modem and it states something has changed enter password so I do, it connects for a minute and then disconnects. Has anyone out there ever had this problem? As I said all my other connected laptops and tv work fine just my desktop disconnects constantly. A tech guy was going to come over but now he wants to have another guy come with him and he was hoping that they would be here later today, but he said no, he's never seen that type of problem. After that is when he called me back and said he wants to bring this other tech over. Thank you in advance if you can help.

Let the new tech fix it. But have him leave you notes on how to do what he did in case it happens again.

thanks. I uninstalled the 2 network adpters in device manager and shut the computer off. I waited about 5 minutes or so and turned it back on and then selected my modem and it didn't say "something has changed" it said something like enter password to connect" si I did that and it stated "connected no internet" but it is connected to the internet. That was at 1:03 and I've got 1:33 now . Before it wouldn't stay connected for more than a minute or so, so it's possible I fixed it, but when tech calls me I'm not going to tell thhem until they get here just in case it quits again. I'm almost afraid to turn off my computer now but I don't want to leave it on for ever. I think when they get here then we'll turn it off and see what happens.

it s working again i had it work for an hour and 40 minutes but when the tech got here he said something or other had to be changed in the settings, and that made it quit working. He happened to see an ethernet cable sitting nearby so he hardwired it. He never did get the wireless back working. He said he just fixed the wireless at his house. Something about it's looking for a signal because an update made some settings merge and that had to be changed back, but he couldn't get it to work. And my laptop still works wireless like it should. He even left me his number. I felt a little bad because my basement door is across from my bathroom door and right before he got here I took a really stinky dump. It stunk pretty bad. I was thinking I hope he doesn't think my house always smells like that. I had the exhaust fan running so maybe he put 2 and 2 together.

you know I've stated my case on that issue numerous times. I'm sorry you can't comprehend my explanation. For me paragraph breaks or whatever they are called don't work for me. Maybe it's my browser, I use waterfox and it can be wonky at times. The other issue is , I don't know the terminollogy for the ability to to know when to start a new paragraph but I'm not good at it. In regualr speaking, my tone of voice makes it easy to distinguish that I'm on a different subject, but it's more difficult for me to do in a text only statement, and it doesn't function properly for me when I do try to start a new paragraph. I have very limited college, as I said I tried a basic english but it was stuff like "forward facing prepositional adjective" type stuff which I had never heard of so I quit. I can't remember what members say what except for FSF he posted all the rap stuff and i think howie was a woodworker that liked hookers and stock cars. As for you I can't remember what you post. But call out my spelling now , if you would, as I'm pretty sure I have mis-spelled something. We had this disucssion a short time ago where i just entered some words and purposeley started each word and indented each one as if it was a new paragraph and it didn't post that way, so I tried, Personally I don't know what the big deal is.I'm not all that smart yet when i read it I have no problem whatso ever. I even printed out a post you bithed about to my tightwad buddy, and that guy is pretty smart, high level engineer at one of the largest manufacturers in the world, his response after reading it? "seems fine to me" so I'll leave it at that. You seem like we may have something in common, though. I also am obsessive/compulsive.

But I'm going to guess you'll state even this post needs a paragraph break, and I'm going to say I do. I think I should have started a new pargraph at the start of my previous sentence?

the reason for the duplicate in the llast post was because I started a new paragraph at but and had it indented to start a new paragraph , hopefully you can look at that and see it did not format properly.Looki real hard, let it sink in, just live with it, it's not a big deal.
