Here's the Problem....
In today's world, with cookies and artificial intelligence, each one of us is targeted all day long by ads, articles, updates, and news that is focused on the things that interest us. Once your smart phone or computer understands the kind of things that you read, the articles you click on, the things you buy, or the news you search, they start targeting those type stories, products, news flashes and such to you. When you go on line you think you are having the same experience as every other person, but you are actually having an experience that your computer or phone has tailored just for you. You don't see the world as it is, you see it as they think you want to see it or as they know it will best interest you.
In a sense this has always bee done. News has always been slanted to audiences based on what part of the country you live in. But smart phones and access to computers has changed that dramatically. You used to only have a few channels on TV, so it couldn't get too slanted. And you used to could decide if you read a paper or listened to any news. Now, you get it all day long with your phone dinging you with breaking news, or spamming your email with targeted information. Look at what facebook and instagram and youtube have devolved into. you can't escape it anymore.
We don't need ad blockers, we need filters and blockers to keep them from twisting the information we get.

and I can't stand how much news has to sensationalize everything. hail storms can't just be a chance of hail. it has to be huge scary words that over exaggerate the size of the hail and make it seem as if every viewer in their broadcasting radius might experience it. tornados can't just be possible, they have to be any second building inside of every cell. everything has to be the biggest in history or some angle that puts it into some new category that man has never experienced. and if you really want to hear about it all you have to do is click on their website so you can get bombarded with cookies and spam.

If it bleeds it leads.
We've got a weather guy here that is infamous for over-dramatizing everything. It's comical to watch him scare-monger and then see another station basically call the exact same storm as a "chance of rain".
