He was a teacher at a local school here.

I wouldn't know. Even as a kid I preferred "lucha libre" on TV rather than the local wrestling show. Mexicans are bad-ass wrestlers.

my cousin was some sort of assistant coach at a high school , somewhere around Toeldo / detroit area years ago and he told me once that Steele was a football coach and he had met him a few times. This must have been mid 70's, and I was no way, the guy can't even talk", because at that time i believed all the stuff. I also had a friend whose parents lived in some old folks place in Florida and Steele lived there. I used to see him wrestle for Sheik. In his book (Steele's) he said he wrestled somewhere in the east and made 7000 for a championship match, he then came and wrestled on a co-main event for Sheik and only got 300 so he realized Sheik wasn't going to pay him much.
