Can a UJR brother get some advice on an AC thermostat
Replacing a 3 decade old pos. Don't need any BS wireless setting from your vehicle app crap, 5 day programmable Bullshit. Touch it, it works- amazing. Honeywell looks the option but screw the batteries- mine's hot wired. Any comments before I order from Amazon? It could cost me $5 extra . Think carefully.

Yes, you don’t think shit through. Programmable allows for varied temperatures when you’re not there and a battery backup keeps it functioning should the power go off.WestTexasCrude wrote: ↑Sun Apr 26, 2020 11:34 pm Replacing a 3 decade old pos. Re: Can a UJR brother get some advice on an AC thermostat
i replaced one in a pinch at my ranch with the cheapest thing I could buy. you just set the temp for a/c to come on if its set to "cold" and what temp the heater comes on if its set to "heat".
I replaced it myself and the best I remember there's only about 5 wires to connect. They are color coordinated and are very important to where they connect. But its universal, so just connect them the same way they are connected to what you have.

Thanks- appreciate it. Comment makes no sense (no offense). So when the power goes off, these magical batteries allow my AC to keep working? superfluous bs wireless computer apps POS . When I get home working 100 degree days, I'm pretty capable of firing the AC up with my fingers, no magic involved.Wut wrote: ↑Sun Apr 26, 2020 11:43 pmYes, you don’t think shit through. i assume what he means is that the batteries keep you from losing your pre-programmed info in case there is a power outage. really that is of no importance to you if you don't want a programmable.WestTexasCrude wrote: ↑Mon Apr 27, 2020 12:43 amThanks- appreciate it. Thanks/ Just watched a UT install- looks like a 15 minute job. Watching and shopping Amazon they had a "Emerson" at $17. I ordered a Honeywell at $27. Hell, they had options up to several hundreds. BS. We are talking a thermostat. Do you really need your home good to go as you jet in from overseas. Good fucking Lord.Flumper wrote: ↑Sun Apr 26, 2020 11:55 pm i replaced one in a pinch at my ranch with the cheapest thing I could buy. you just set the temp for a/c to come on if its set to "cold" and what temp the heater comes on if its set to "heat".

240 volt alternating current batteries are definitely the way to go if you are in an area that has frequent power outages.

when you take off your old thermostat write down the sequence of the wires. But most thermostats will have the terminals labeled with an R (red), W (white), G (green), etc. It is really fucking simple.WestTexasCrude wrote: ↑Mon Apr 27, 2020 12:57 amThanks/ Just watched a UT install- looks like a 15 minute job. honestly, you have to be a natural con-man, like DT is, if you are going to charge a person to hook up something like that.

Meanwhile, WTC is just a good guy innocently asking for some advice. That's why people here are trying to help him, unlike you. As far as you are concerned your best bet is to just DIAF.

You, being the other major mooch fuckup on this board, I have to really laugh by the way you like to kick people just 'cause you know something they don't know. How did you become such a fucked up asshole like that? I seriously think you were abused as a child.

You just nailed it on the head. On/ off AC- heat with a temp sensor. How hard is that. It's Hot- activate AC/ It's Cold activate Heat. Another hi-tech BS chumps buy into. "It's the lower 40's, must start vehicle remotely from my house to heat it up so I don't experience adverse weather" Bunch of fricking pussies.megman wrote: ↑Mon Apr 27, 2020 12:53 amThis is more your speed...WestTexasCrude wrote: ↑Mon Apr 27, 2020 12:43 amThanks- appreciate it. Re: Can a UJR brother get some advice on an AC thermostat
While the terminals are indeed labelled r, w, g....it really isn't that simple. For instance in my applications (heating systems) if you plug the red into r, the white into w and the green into g and you aren't using batteries nothing will happen. If however you take that green wire and plug it into to the c terminal then everything is rainbows and unicorns.Flumper wrote: ↑Mon Apr 27, 2020 1:00 amwhen you take off your old thermostat write down the sequence of the wires. Yes but if it’s 100 degrees and you’re coming home at 6:00 you can have the air kick on at 5:00 so it’s cooler when you walk in instead of sweating while you wait for it it cool down. But, since you’re proudly avoiding simple conveniences of today’s world, the toggle switch should work fine.WestTexasCrude wrote: ↑Mon Apr 27, 2020 12:43 amThanks- appreciate it.
