i can't remember the wires, but if you touch red to white (or whatever someone that knows tells you) then it should kick the unit on. i don't remember which two wires it is, but yoiu can touch them and it will start the outside unit without a thermostat at all. You need DT to tell you exactly.

Connect to an extension cord running to a convenient plug in my living room. Connect the wires to run the AC manually. Plug in and unplug the extension cord to run it. There you go WTC. Don't disconnect the old thermostat. Just get a a few short pieces of wire and make jumpers to connect red, yellow, and green. If you get those three connected you have the a/c running 24/7. to shut it on and off, you unplug the furnace.
