875,00 people. 6300 cases. 41 deaths. SHUT IT THE FUCK DOWN!!
Honolulu Mayor Issues Sweeping ‘Stay-At-Home’ Order On Oahu For Two Weeks
Violators face $5,000 fines, up to year in jail
By Joseph Curl
Democratic Honolulu Mayor Kirk Caldwell has ordered a shut-down for all residents of Oahu, the state’s most populous island and home to about 875,000 people.
All “non-essential” businesses — retail stores, personal services like barber shops and salons, gyms, restaurants and bars — must shut down for two weeks. Beaches and parks will also be closed.
Businesses deemed “essential,” such as grocery stores, child care facilities, construction, and some educational services, can stay open. Religious services will also be allowed under the new order, but will be restricted.
Violations are punishable as misdemeanors, with fines of up to $5,000, up to a year in jail, or both.
Honolulu has had 6,382 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 41 deaths, according to the Johns Hopkins Center for Systems Science and Engineering.
“Honolulu Mayor Kirk Caldwell said during the shutdown the city and state plan to [significantly] ramp up testing — conducting 60,000 tests in 12 days — to be able to reopen safely,” Hawaii News Now reported. “Officials said authorities will also use the time to bolster contact tracing programs and improve quarantine and isolation measures.”
“We’re going to see how it goes,” Caldwell said at a press conference. “We’re hopeful the number will decline.”
“Everybody has to do their part and for the most part people are,” Caldwell said. “We can do this … and when we reopen it will be different this time.” The mayor said if COVID-19 cases go down, the city would start to open again, but if not, the order could be extended.

Do you think the UK did well? I don't. And y'all are now projected to do worse on the only comparison figure you've been able to see while your country racks up the most deaths by far worldwide. It'll be interesting to see what the excuse switches to then, I'm assuming there won't be a sudden realisation that there actually is a problem when the rate per 100k nationwide exceeds the UK, which now has it under control while it is running wild there at levels we never saw.Biker wrote: ↑Thu Aug 27, 2020 3:32 pmStill doing better than the UKAnalHamster wrote: ↑Thu Aug 27, 2020 3:28 pmExactly the attitude that has led to 180,000 American dead. So does the UK number, anyone who tested positive then died from any cause, and anyone who shwoed unconfirmed symptoms. So when the US number blasts through the UK number, then you'll understand it's a problem but before then it won't be? Nope, but do you think he'd have pretended there was no problem, screwed up with testing and ppe supplies, encouraged his supporters to ignore advice to wear masks, pushed fake cures, tweeted about liberating places that had shutdown?
Trump has actively made things worse in a pretty long list of ways with lies and shoddy leadership.
