All the news from the peanut gallery and where all the nasty trash talk fails miserably.
It can get NSFW-ish here: you have been warned!

I would. as long as i get the same power, run time, etc. I would at least listen to what they had to say. I could give a little on the upfront cost, if the resale value covered it.

In other words, if I can buy a 310 now for $85,000 and sell it in 8 years for $15,000. Then I would consider this one at $100,000 if I could sell it in 8 years for $30,000.

The work I've done and I know Animal does involves work out in the boondocks. No way you are shutting down a job site for any amount of time, putting it on a trailer and hauling it 40 miles to find a charging station when a full diesel tank will run all day. Maybe in the future when the tech gets better.

My wife has this electric leaf blower that is good for cleaning off the driveway and sidewalks after moving but sucks when the leaves start falling. The batteries don’t last long and it cannot handle the volume of leaves that we get, mostly compliments of our neighbors. Even my handheld gas powered blower can’t handle the volume. My solution this year was to buy a Stijl backpack blower and I’m planning on cutting down two trees.

The point is that this will not fair well in the south and southwest because you cannot shutdown an entire project because your battery died on your equipment. There are a lot of contractors that run sunrise to sunset, especially in the summer months. These machines will not have enough juice to last more than a few hours, especially if they are being put to heavy use.

Well, I am giving them the benefit of the doubt that they wouldn't go to market with something you had to load on a trailer every 8 hours and haul to a charging station. But the lack of filters and engine parts is interesting. These new "regen" systems they have on these diesel engines kick my ass on costs. I fucking hate that technology. I spend more money paying techs to come out and fix the computer systems on those things because they keep the engine from running.

I agree it's perhaps feasible in the future but the promo not even listing the 3 points you mentioned (among others) doesn't look good.

I think most can agree this type of electrical is definitely the wave of the future. But a long way to go before say someone working on a project in the desert somewhere 100 miles from a charging platform would even consider it. Perhaps a mobile charging station brought on site everyday with enough juice for the day's workload? Haul that in every night to be powered back up?

Case and Volvo have been making these for years. Europe, China and India are buying them up like crazy.

What about additional battery packs?

My Milwaukee brushless tools kick ass. Even the Sawzall gives you as much power as corded.

Aren't the current batteries on even compact 2 door sedans so delicate that if you are in a crash and pinned inside, the FD has to remove/ disable the battery before they can even think about removing you/ passengers? How is that going to work on heavy industrial machines pounding away on a job site in brutal conditions? I'm thinking with the current tech, it's not.

Nothing you said is correct. Electric cars have a loop that is cut by firefighters that kill all voltage.
