Did you buy any?

nope. i see no real point in hedging on stocks. it would make more sense to just get out of the market.
I'm not sure I understand this. So, in your first paragraph, are you saying the stock is up 0.64% from where it was the day the game started? As in, on 2-1-2022 it was at X, and 10 days later it's at X+0.64%?Animal wrote: ↑Thu Feb 10, 2022 5:43 pmyou can't look at stocks under a microscope. You have to stand way back and look at them over large periods of time. Let's take SONY as an example. Since the game started on 2-1-2022 that stock is up 0.64% (I'm looking at right this minute prices). Now that seems like nothing or "holy fuck" as you put it.
But, let's put it into perspective. This game started 10 days ago. If you extrapolate that 0.64% in 10 days out over 1 year you get 23.36%. Now, who wouldn't take a 23% gain on an investment in one year right now?
my only point was to say that most people can't wrap their heads around a small gain in a very small time frame. in order for the number to make sense its easier to put it into a twelve month perspective. Which, I know is nothing more than a reference point since it hasn't actually been a year.Deathproof wrote: ↑Sat Feb 12, 2022 3:39 amI'm not sure I understand this. Now your second paragraph... What I think you're saying is that if it goes up 0.64% every ten days, then after a year -- which would be 36.4 ten-day intervals -- it would be up 23.36%? Am I understanding you correctly?
But, if that's an accurate representation of what you're saying, doesn't that assume that the stock a) never goes down, and b) always goes up at the same rate (0.64% every 10 days)?
Am I correct in assuming that neither of those scenarios is either certain or likely?

I am certainly not suggesting any more or any less. A 0.64% gain in 10 days is the equivalent of a 23.36% gain in a year. Even though one really happened and the other did not.
This explanation was helpful. But the most beautiful and melodic guitar solo is in fact the solo from Gun n' Roses' "November Rain". If you disagree, you are wrong and/or homosexual.CHEEZY17 wrote: ↑Sun Feb 13, 2022 2:14 amThink of it like a guitar solo:Animal wrote: ↑Sun Feb 13, 2022 12:25 ammy only point was to say that most people can't wrap their heads around a small gain in a very small time frame. in order for the number to make sense its easier to put it into a twelve month perspective. You cant take one single note out of the most beautiful and melodic guitar solo (Stairway to Heaven BTW) and expect it to be beautiful and melodic. You take and appreciate it as a whole. Dont judge your stock on one day, week or month. Judge it at the end and you may be surprised at its beauty.
I'm OK with it.Animal wrote: ↑Wed Feb 23, 2022 5:48 pm Ranking as of …........................ 2/23/2022 11:29 …................. Change

1. oil has not raced past $100. It hasn't even reached $100/bbl. As of today's close West Texas Intermediate was at $92.24/bbl.
2. your stock was down 2.4% since Feb 1 at 11:29 am today CST. The rinky dink reporting agency is the New York Stock Exchange.
A dividend is a payment per share declared by the company board. May be quarterly, semiannual or annual or a one time thing. I have my dividend reinvested, some take the cash.
