Totally lost me and my interest with "solution in search of a problem" and "Election police". And I see still calling it the DSG bill like a Liberal lapdog. Look, it's pretty damn simple. Kids age 5-10 don't know or care about anything related to sex. Parents are and have always been going back to the beginning of time the guardians of their children's future. From the parents I talk to, I can't express the total outrage bordering on rage they feel when they find out their 6 (whatever) year old is being taught by their teachers that 2 boys/girls holding hands/ kissing is totally normal in society. First of all they are 6 and second they aren't being taught, they are being indoctrinated into a lifestyle most sane (my opinion) people find not only repulsive but beyond the pale for a civil society. Again it's 5-10 year old. Teachers- here is your teaching guidelines. Teach. Funny you mention solutions/problems in the same sentence. In my long experience it almost always seems to be the Liberals that create the problems thar require a normal/civilised society to step in and fix with solutions.QillerDaemon wrote: ↑Tue Apr 26, 2022 1:51 pmThe DSG bill is totally, like other such bills with DeSantis' signature on them, "solutions in search of a problem". And it is very questionable from a constitutional standpoint. Sure, people want schools to teach their children, and not all that surprisingly, the state has offered almost no attention to that since the Republicans took over the legislature in the late 90's. If anything, much of Florida's school systems have been gutted of any decent attempts at teaching in the last twenty-something years. I also appreciate QD's contribution to this subject. And I totally disagree with him that the bill will "gutted and reversed". Just the opposite. In the end, it will be upheld in it's entirety. Notice he uses the term (like the media overlords wants him to) "Don't Say Gay" for the bill. The bill doesn't have that wording anywhere in it. In fact, it simply states that between K and 4th grade (?), no mention of sexual orientation of ANY kind can be discussed in the classroom, homosexuality or not. The bill passed by a huge majority of legislatures (voted by the people), has a huge approval rating from the citizens of Florida, and passed by the State of Florida as it has the right under the US Constitution. Parents want schools to "teach" and are tired of feeling their kids are in some kind of re-orientation social experimentation like we use to see in N Korea and the Soviet Union.
It's like Desantis' beloved "Election Police". There is been almost no evidence of voting fraud in this state, and oddly, what evidence there is comes from Republican voters. There is no evidence vote drop boxes have been any problem, and every elections office has worked hard to make voting an honest effort since our little "chad" issue of 2000. Every Republican election officer has come out to say our last round of elections were as clean as they could possibly be. So why the need of an election police? It's just another group of civil employees hired as election booth thugs by the governor of "smaller government". We don't have the money for a lot of things in this state, but we do for some band of civil employees at the behest of DeSantis. Accomplishes nothing, and does it at tax-payer expense. Gee, what could go wrong?

And as an aside After passing through childhood under their parent(s) guidance and they approach adulthood and decide they want to go down that path, then that is fine. But then maybe these same teachers, now that these "children" are now old enough to care about such things, would step in (without being jugmental) and show what that decision could entail. Many times more chance of suicide, mental illness, drug use, etc. You know the bad things beyond the pretty colored rainbows they were teaching 6 year olds before.

Maybe if education was funded as well as the military, you'd see a significant decrease in suicides, mental illness, and drug use.CentralTexasCrude wrote: ↑Wed Apr 27, 2022 1:21 am And as an aside After passing through childhood under their parent(s) guidance and they approach adulthood and decide they want to go down that path, then that is fine. By the way, one big difference between us and other countries is that we have a higher number of students in "free" public education than most countries. But other countries have much cheaper (and usually better quality) private educational options. Here, you can have a cheap public education, a very expensive private education, or go to a charter school where you probably won't get an education at all. That last option was the one DeVos was all over in the last administration.
If you can't be a good example, you can still serve as a horrible warning.

My opinion is each child learns at their own pass. The parents know their child best.
Personally I don’t have children. If I did I wouldn’t teach them about AC and adv current or about Edison electrocution of elephants when trying to keep them from sticking a fork in the outlet.

Re: Political cartoon and meme thread for both sides of the spectrum.
Look it's pretty simple in my mind with many decades of experience watching it all. I'll act like I'm talking for the vast majority of Americans Right and center, though I make sure it's known that I only speak for myself. "We" can tolerate a lot of liberal BS. From the "flavor of the decade" Ideas that always seem to pop up to social experiments through the entire structure of society. "We" tolerate it because almost without exception they are doomed to failure sooner or later. Always seems to be later after much time, energy and money is spent trying to fix the mess. "We" can tolerate that BS . There are 2 that can't and won't be touched or tolerated. The first is our military- the finest ever in history. They are our protection against a hostile world. No dilution of that strength will ever be allowed. The second are our children. They are the future of our Countrty. No social experiments are allowed. The parents of our country have the say, hell the GD right to determine how their kids are raised. Beyond those 2, Liberal away to your heart's content and ultimate failure.Burn1dwn wrote: ↑Wed Apr 27, 2022 8:32 pmI'm sure not talking about sex with such young children is already covered in existing laws, no? I know the Word. I know the exact Word. Can you guess what that Word is? There was a time when both sides of the political divide could come together in mutual respect and cooperate and compromise in bi-partnership for the good of the Country. Now it's "Us vs Them". Hate spewing where cooperation is a nasty word. The only political goal is to grind your enemy into dust. It didn't used to be that way. Tell me the Word.

*You* want compromise? Then tell your guys to compromise. It's not the left that's said they have no agenda other than saying "no!" to whatever may actually be of benefit to the country and its people. It's your side that espoused the "us vs them" bullshit. It's your side that's said they don't have to work for the good of anyone. It's your side that wants only your way or no way.CentralTexasCrude wrote: ↑Thu Apr 28, 2022 2:30 am I know the Word. Why is your side so stuck on abortion? Most of the country is in support of the 1st trimester abortion. Why does your side work so hard against some kind of real national healthcare, even as an option, when most of the country backs it and needs it? Why does your side seem to find a need to tilt at nonexistent windmills such as CRT and LGBT rights and stolen elections? There is absolutely not one shred of evidence of CRT in lower education or that 45 actually won, and LGBT people are here whether you want them to be or not. Why does your side like to talk so much about freedom, when it is the side that goes out of its way to restrict basic freedoms, pretending you're "free" when you're not.
Your side is the side of liars, thieves, panderers, and those who refuse to compromise. Yours is the side trying to make people invisible and powerless, yours is the side trying to whitewash our national history. Yours is the side who wants no compromise and then tries to blame it on the other side.
If you can't be a good example, you can still serve as a horrible warning.

I’ll paraphrase.
There is no such thing as “left-wing.”
The nation will lurch in the progressive direction whether the majority wants it to or not.

The problem is not that there is evil in the world, the problem is that there is good. Because otherwise, who would care?
