There is no maple syrup in them. The filling is simply brown sugar and cinnamon.

i assume icing sugar is confectioner's sugar or powdered sugar. Its like a really really fine white powder? super sweet? That's pretty much the same icing that is in the cans of store bought cinnamon rolls.

That's why I only eat one every month or so. I tell myself it's a quality control check.

I've heard from some wives that their husbands will only come to church with them because they can have a coffee AND a cinnamon bun. 8-)

Cinnamon buns are a gift from God to let us know how much he loves us.

Just made up a double batch of split pea soup. I'm on my phone and imgur doesn't like me posting from it so I'll post them up when I get home.

Apparently the invite for turkey dinner is a wild bird so it'll be an extra treat if that is the case. 8-)

SLOW COOKER SPLIT PEA SOUP

Keep in mind I have a 6qt crockpot so I double up the recipe. You can half everything for a smaller one.

Everything should be added in order. First we rinse and put in 2 lbs of yellow split peas. Then we add a meaty ham bone.

Image

Then we peel and chop 6 carrots, 4 stalks of celery and one onion.

Image
Image

Then we chop and mince 4 cloves of garlic.

Image

Then we add 2 bay leaves, 4 tsp dried parsley, 2 tsp of salt and 1 tsp of black pepper.

Image

Normally I just use hot water but this year I got 1 /12 qts of bone broth. So it was 1 1/2 qts of bone broth and 1 1/2 qts of hot water.

Image

Without stirring, it goes on high for 4-6 hours or low for 8-10 hrs. I prefer it slow.

Image

When done, remove the bay leaves and the bones.

Today’s scalloped potatoes stole the show. I threw in thyme and nutmeg. And doubled the gruyere.

Seriously? :?
What is the difference between a split pea and a regular pea?

Split peas are just normal peas that are dried and split to speed up the cooking process. Split peas are a type of legume and can be eaten as a vegetable or protein. They can be either green or yellow. Green split peas have a slightly sweet flavor and yellow peas are more mild.
If you can't be a good example, you can still serve as a horrible warning.
