Re: what are you listening too?
I guess this can't be a break up song, but I love it.
Bob sired many children with many women, and yet his wife was the leader of the singers: the legendary "I-Threes".
The I-Threes were the most influential female singing group in the history of Jamaican music. A trio featuring Marcia Griffiths, Rita Marley, and Judy Mowatt, the I-Threes provided the rich harmonies for Bob Marley's performances and recordings from 1974 until his death ten years later.

Not sure if polygamy is part of rastafarism or not but Bob loved the ladies. I remember he had a football playing son(U of Miami) that was from one of his other chick's. Rita didn't seem to mind sharing him.hawkfan8812 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 05, 2023 7:10 pm I guess this can't be a break up song, but I love it.

I almost put this song but it's more about the Wailers eventual break up and his relationship with Tosh.

Re: what are you listening too?
Here is one I have shared a few times, my girl Vicci. Breakup genius.
Recap... Vicci was second on the Voice, I think season 2, Cee Lo was her coach. My band opened for her band once at a brewfest, she loved us because our girls all did hula hoop during our gigs, mostly when the rooms or space was not filled with fans. And many of our girls were fine, and great at hooping. I first met Vicci at the Brick when she was 18, and her girlfriend at the time was her conga player and absolutely beautiful They did not last as Vicci grew in popularity, and this song was about her, for her.
I remain friends with the drummer and bass player, the guitarist is now with a great WA band called the Dusty 45s, they kill.
She fills up all her time, she never wastes a day
And has no time to rest, but she's smiling anyway
Still she hurts inside like every one of us
But when my days filled up with clouds she'll always be the sun

You are correct, I think he had 2 boys go to the U, I assume baby mama lived in southern Florida.
I saw Ziggy at Seattle's famous Bumbershoot festival, my father died that night. I came home in Ballard to a voicemail from my mom asking me to call her as soon as I got home, which was about 3 am. A day you never forget.
When my wife and I became pregnant, our name if it was a girl was Bob's mom's name: Cedella. My only child is a son we named Cedar.

Awesome! It's by far their best least RHCP sound lol. I enjoy having that album on in the background of sexy time.Burn1dwn wrote: ↑Wed Apr 05, 2023 6:25 pmI never gave that album a chance because I was so sick of the RHCP by the time it came out. Been playing it the last couple days. I was missing out the last 25 years.disco.moon wrote: ↑Sun Apr 02, 2023 6:00 pm I'm listening to this album - Venice Queen IMHO is by far the best song by RHCP. John Frusciante is one of the best fucking musicians in the modern world and he should be protected at all costs. This song showcases his talent and vulnerability so much. I'm rambling....

Re: what are you listening too?
Right now I just messed around with an old voice of music 2 way speaker.Got it hooked up to an optimus sa-155 amp , a monster that radio shack sold for 25 years or so about 1 watt per channel. The song now is from an sd card that has all my radio station material on it.Right now it's live humble pie from about '82 or so "I don't need no doctor". Saw them open for Ted Nugent about that time.Ted wasn't too happy that night. Two girls that went to the concert with me vandalized his truck and got arrested. The "Pie" blew him offstage, but he saved himself during the encore by bringing Steve Marriot back out and they did "oh carol" pretty much "blew the roof off the place". And this is from a huge Ted Nugent fan.Just wasn't Ted's night. And if you're wondering "why was Ted's truck there?" he lived about 40 miles down I-94 at the time.

Agreed. B side is 2 songs. Telegraph road and private investigations. I know the whole album by heart.
