i know how badly you want it to be a big crime. but, unfortunately for you, its about like jay walking in the desert. literally no one cares if someone OVER states their asset values. its comical that you think its some big deal.

In the suit, which runs more than 200 pages, James’ office details what it says are Trump's efforts to inflate his personal net worth to attract favorable loan agreements and alleges more than 200 instances of fraud over 10 years.
James said that Trump and his company falsely claimed their statements were prepared in consultation with outside professionals and that the documents blatantly violated “generally accepted accounting principles.” The alleged violations include representing that Trump had cash on hand that he did not, ignoring critical restrictions that would significantly lower property values, changing the methodology for estimating such values from year to year, using different methods for various properties even in the same year and including intangible items in the calculations.

At a news conference Wednesday, James detailed Trump and his company's alleged violations of state and federal laws by having “repeatedly and persistently manipulated the value of assets to induce banks to lend money” to the organization “on more favorable terms than would otherwise have been available to the company."
Not a big deal.

So it isn't just logic or critical thinking that isn't your strong suit, we can also list reading as things you struggle with.

i can't even imagine how many times smaller my company is than Trump's. And even for my company no bank or lender would rely on some financial statement that I prepared myself. They would want one prepared by my accountant, who would be licensed and would stake his license on the accuracy of those statements.

They call it the Head Shot for a reason...lying on loan applications can get you 30 years by itself.
Federal prosecutors in Baltimore used to call this statute — and its overwhelming and intimidating penalty — the Head Shot. If the rest of your case was insubstantial, if you couldn’t make the case you wanted to make, but you were on the spot for investigating a high profile target, then check the loan documents on that sucker’s house first. See if he made a false claim. Even if he was paying off the bank loan, or had paid the loan, even if there was no actual monetary loss, check the loan documents. It’s amazing how many Americans put more than their best foot forward when they are trying to convince a bank to back their mortgage.

It happens on the most basic level. I have clients that own a rental property or two. When they need a new loan, they won't report any repair/maitenence expenses on those properties so that it shows them being more profitable. Then, after the loan is closed, they go back and amend their returns to take the expenses.

I know you just demonstrated a lack of ability to read, so directing your attention to the followup posts since yours are likely to go unaddressed. But they chipped in cold and easily got there logically in minutes, whereas you've had days to pretend to be unable to comprehend.

And if you'll note, I did not denigrate your or anyone's service. There was no insulting over being a prisoner of war, or any Swiftboating. I strictly take issue with your opinions as is yours and my right, and I call your attention to the degenerates who make up the population of the group you stand with that would throw away and take away our rights.
I'm shining a light on what you purport to have fought for, to have defended. Fighting to defend our rights stands contrary to having our rights taken away by criminal conspiracy. I dismiss what you claim because your words (presentation) do not match your actions (posting history).

The way its written, with the conversation that we've had certainly alludes (with your presentation), that a republican who has served stands contrary and probably condones having our rights taken away (your posting history). Don't you see that? It's about how you present it and I'll bet most anyone would see that context. If it was an unfortunate choice of words, then that's ok...but it's wrong none the less.

so...... the consensus seems to be that literally everyone, all the way down to the lowest of the homeowner, exaggerate asset values on loan applications.

and yet, trump, used balance sheets prepared by licensed certified accountants. What a joke and waste of tax payer money this lawsuit is. They have probably spent 50 x more $$ on the lawsuit than any damages that a lender might have endured after making the loan that wasn't defaulted on.

Then if you took that to mean regarding your service, that is an incorrect assumption. Strictly about your political opinions and what you support as a result or byproduct of said support, and that is because your opinions are contrary to where you claim to stand, being middle of the road. If I had been referencing your service, I'd have probed for say where and how you served, but it's a non factor to your opinions or at least that would be my assumption.

Defintely. People fib on their loan applications all the time. Calling a new loan a 2nd home instead of investment property to get a better rate. Taking money from a friend for the down payment and calling it their own. Its done all the time and doesn't raise an eyebrow.

I was just pointing out that it is technically a crime and Feds can use it to bust you if all other avenues fail. Kind of like Al Capone and tax evasion.

speaking of age limits, etc. is it a good idea to allow a supreme court justice to decide to retire at whatever time "they" choose? Obviously, a conservative justice is going to plan that retirement at a time when there is a conservative president in office so that an acceptable replacement is chosen. Is that part of the plan for that system and is that too much power for those individuals to have? I am really not sure what an alternative would be.

No, its not right and both sides routinely try gaming the system. The best I can come up with is a specific year limit: be it 20, 25 or 30 years from when they are appointed unless the age cap is reached beforehand. That way their retirement date is predetermined and then whoever the POTUS happens to be at that time...thats who makes the pick.

I honestly think RBG thought Hillary was going to win in 2016 and she could retire after that. But she didn't and Ruth died waiting for the next Democrat president.
