You guys voted with him. So, let's just let that be the path we take. There's no easier way to stop spending than to actually have no way to spend in the first place. Yall voted it that way, so let's try it out a while.
At some point, you're going to have to take responsibility for your party not getting your reps under control and allowing them to sabotage their own majority. Democrats are not required to save you guys from yourselves, they did their jobs. McCarthy gave away the keys, and until your party loses their ill-gotten seats, they are still going to be "the majority" so they have to fix themselves. Democrats can't do it for them, hell if Democrats lift a finger to help you guys, it just makes you dig your heels in even more and sabotage more of this country's government. So now you have to deal with what you created, figure out how to put your fringe where they belong, get a speaker with integrity and a spine and enough brains to know he can't govern as is without bipartisan support. Exactly. This is why dot is a disingenuous hack.
He knows 4% of Republicans cant do squat. He knows Gantz would have went absolutely nowhere without 100% Democrat support. Yet he will sit here and claim its the R's fault that the Democrats voted 100% with Gantz while 96% of Republicans did not.

he will also try to pretend that McCarthy allowed the "fringe" to invent some new way of allowing 1 person to bring a vote to vacate.

and then Salty will come along and tell us how they "had to vote with Matt Gantz" because McCarthy was a backstabber. Meanwhile Pelosi told McCarthy that if a vote ever came up to vacate him from the job, he would have her support because she believed in the institution that much. You know, "one speaker to another" wink wink.

It's a metaphor. If you're gonna play dumb after the last few days of going back and forth here over how McCarthy got his now former position, then just admit you have nothing to contribute except blame everyone but yourselves for the mess you created.

you mean the mess that every single voting member of the Democratic House created? that mess? The mess that 96% of the voting republicans voted to avoid? is that the mess you are talking about?

So you're going to still blame the Democrats for what your own party did? Nah, sorry, even your reps know that ain't flyin' and are not shy about it behind closed doors.

https://www.cnn.com/politics/live-news/ ... a79dfbda17
A closed-door meeting of the House GOP Conference turned heated today, multiple sources tell CNN, a further sign of chaos as Republicans struggle to elect a speaker.

At one point, Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz, who led the effort to oust Kevin McCarthy as speaker, was told to sit down by McCarthy but refused. Illinois Rep Mike Bost then “got all emotional and ugly and was cussing him” and “telling him it’s all his fault,” one member said.

The Republican conference meeting grew heated following the announcement that Rep Jim Jordan is relaunching his campaign for the gavel after putting a pause on his speakership bid.

Rep Kevin McCarthy, the recently ousted speaker, reportedly screamed at Rep Matt Gaetz, who brought the motion to vacate against Mr McCarthy earlier this month, to sit down and Rep Michael Bost was seen “almost lunging at him,” a person who was in the room told Axios.
Imagine being so out of touch that this is what you elected to put into power and then they prove at every turn that they don't deserve it, but rather than take responsibility, you blame the opposition for not saving them from themselves.

In an attempt to hit the reset button here, I ask this:

Who is the leader or leadership of the Republican Party?

He's a temporary placeholder in Congress.

I mean for the Party as a whole.

He could move to remove the speaker by himself. Democrats didn't move to remove McCarthy, McCarthy just gave them more than enough reasons to let it happen. So once again, tell me when it became the Democrats' job to save the government and the opposition party from themselves. And then try and square the gymnastics necessary to get to blaming the Democrats for everything when even the reps you're so desperate to defend are blaming your lunatic fringe for their situation. They know who's really at fault behind closed doors, but somehow they've pushed out the talking points you are desperate to follow for the public. Disingenuous hack indeed, the both of ye.

That's fine, they're welcome to answer if they are brave enough to take ownership of the chaos caucus and move on instead of blaming everyone else.

then you should have asked "who do you want to be the next leader of the GOP?" But you didn't, so the answer is whoever is in the highest elected position. Right now McHenry is 3rd in line to the president. Now, if you had asked 2 weeks ago, my answer would have been McCarthy. Just like your answer should have been Pelosi if someone asked you that question 4 years ago. If you want to know who people hope is the next leader of the GOP you will get lots of different answers. I'm rooting for Desantis.

Pretty sure he's not. Speaker Pro Tempore is not Speaker of the House. He, as of right now, does not have the same powers or authority and thus is not in the line of succession.
