What are you serving for thanksgiving? I am hosting a bunch of family this year and need ideas.

mostly the traditional stuff. but my favorite part is the before meal snacks (sausage balls, pigs in a blanket, spicy burnt ends, etc) and the desserts (chocolate pecan pie, carrot cake, peanut butter pie).

I may have to make some of megman's cinnamon rolls for the early birds this year.

Try going non-traditional.
Instead of doing a turkey, roast up a couple of cats.

i am going to spatchcock and smoke a turkey but a prime rib does sound pretty good. maybe ill shift to a breast and a prime rib.

Animal...what are sausage balls? i am now going to make a carrot cake.

My family traditionally does a macaroni and gravy or a lasagna for the holidays.

We have been doing the meal at our local FOE 696 Eagles for the last couple years. The wife's new thing is a roasted root veggie crock, super healthy and delish. My mom and son are joining us this year, he is picking her up and coming over from a couple hundred miles away..

I recommend a popcorn stuffing for your turkey. You'll know it's done when the ass blows off. :buttred:

Green bean casserole done well is one of my favorites. I use a combo of caramelized and fried onions in mine.

I'll be enjoying a heaping helping of Green Bay getting their ass kicked by the Lions.

Since I'm single and will just be by myself, I am considering making Southern smothered turkey wings. From what I've seen, it has a lot of potential

Oh, and one thing I have made a number of times is an old family classic. Butterscotch banana pudding. My grandma used to make it on a weekly basis. And it was always at the family Thanksgiving & Xmas get-to-gathers. It's definitely a family "comfort food" and seems to define the holidays.

My step-dad is deep frying a turkey. I'm smoking a spiral cut ham with a cherry bourbon glaze and making a corn and oyster casserole.

Just the two of us, no need for a week's leftovers. We'll pick some nice restaurant, likely after a heated discussion on the matter, and leave it at that.

She'll probably want BBQ, I'll want sushi, and probably go for the local Korean or Indian buffet.

Wild turkeys fly.

Deep fried Turkey, if its not overcooked, is amazing.
