In my head, I imagine that Kim Jun Ung's space scientists are all a bunch of CTC's.

Read this morning North Korea announcing their new secret spy satellite beamed back images of the White House and Pentagon to Pyongyang. I was like I could have saved you $800 million. It's called Google Maps.

Instead of "life forms" or "creatures", why don't we just call it sentient beings with brains bigger than RD. That should cover the whole human race.Reservoir Dog wrote: ↑Wed Nov 29, 2023 12:44 amThat would be more realistic as his use of the word "creatures" was wrong from the beginning as the Russians had sent a couple of turtles around the moon 4 months before Apollo 8.
First he said that the crew of Apollo 8 were the first "creatures" to orbit the moon. Which, of course, was completely wrong.
Then he said that it was 9 years earlier in 1959 on Luna 3 with 2 dogs. Which, of course, was completely wrong.
Then he said it was Sputnik 5 in 1960 with 2 dogs. Which, of course, was completely wrong.
It's truly incredible how he can be wrong every fucking time about every fucking thing!

In the first image, upper left quadrant, bright object with six radial lines. I wonder if those radio lines are an artifact of the software to produce it in or the imaging itself?

i am totally guessing, but I think that is part of the artistic leeway they give the software to enhance the image. Same with adding the colors.

Re: Space stuff
I am also guessing but I believe that star in blue with radial lines is in both images. Upper left in top image, bottom right in bottom image. I'm thinking the top image is objects closer to Webb, bottom is farther away. The blue radial lined star is the reference point.

There are only four radial lines in the bottom image in the object you referenced.

No idea how that works. Does make me wonder about one thing. The person who takes computer images from ground based or space telescopes and produces images like that- I wonder what their job title is. Has to be a profession where the number of people involved is tiny. Handful or two.

Do think they have a dark room where they hang the pictures on a string with clothespins?CentralTexasCrude wrote: ↑Thu Dec 07, 2023 2:18 amNo idea how that works. Does make me wonder about one thing. nope. i've seen it. they take the pic and then you hear the thing whirrrr a bit and then this square of paper rolls out kind of slow. then they fan it back and forth and wave it around for about 10 minutes. then you peel off the front and "boom!". star picture.Reservoir Dog wrote: ↑Thu Dec 07, 2023 2:32 amDo think they have a dark room where they hang the pictures on a string with clothespins?CentralTexasCrude wrote: ↑Thu Dec 07, 2023 2:18 amNo idea how that works. Yes it does. Also answered what their job title could be. Astro-photographer or Astro- imaging specialist.nerd_alert wrote: ↑Thu Dec 07, 2023 7:58 am This might provide some clarity

Its weird how the job title actually kind of describes what they do. Like a landscaper or a mailman.CentralTexasCrude wrote: ↑Thu Dec 07, 2023 4:28 pmYes it does. was this a rocket built by SpaceX? Also, did they land the main rocket back on earth like the reusable Falcon 9 rockets?
