Bacon is a worse topping than pineapple
on pizza. Everyone fights over pineapple but bacon really makes a pizza bad.

Re: Bacon is a worse topping than pineapple
I like real bacon with no artificial flavoring added, and it's getting hard for me to find a bacon like that. Some labels state "flavoring" "smoke flavor added" I don't want any of that. I've been eating bacon for 60 years but it's really been about 5 or 6 years I can taste the flavorings in almost all the brands. Anyway, I like bacon in/on food if it can stay crisp, the problem is mixed with anthing it gets soggy unless at the final moments of say broiling / baking whatever, last few moments add the fully cooked bacon on top, don't stir it in so it stays somewhat crisp, but it really seems to re-absorb moisture and just becomes weird, really like a raw piece of bacon. I don't like that.

In my late teens I worked at a pizza place a couple of days a week for some extra cash. I promise you the pizza makers are not happy when you order pineapple on your pizza.
As for the taste and legitimacy of a pineapple (Hawaiian) pizza? Meh.

Re: Bacon is a worse topping than pineapple
I blame Canada.Have you ever asked yourself, who in their right mind would chuck pineapple slices onto a pizza? Well, to answer your question, his name is Sam Panopoulos, a Greek immigrant who moved to Canada in 1954. He created the first Hawaiian pizza at his restaurant, Satellite, located in Chatham, Ontario, Canada.

Your fingers get all wet and gross and then if you touch any other topping afterwards it has a residual pineapple taste. Basically, it's more work for the pizza maker because you have to wash/dry your hands after handling the topping.
Or did you think that was a commentary on the topping itself?

Actually, I think it's funny that you worked part-time in a pizza place 40 years ago and now you're in here speaking for all pizza makers.CHEEZY17 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 07, 2025 4:08 pmYour fingers get all wet and gross and then if you touch any other topping afterwards it has a residual pineapple taste. Well, we were a super popular delivery place with many pizza makers aside from myself that all felt the same way so I guess there's that. Have there been some major new advanced developments in the pineapple topping storage game to eliminate that problem?Reservoir Dog wrote: ↑Tue Jan 07, 2025 4:40 pmActually, I think it's funny that you worked part-time in a pizza place 40 years ago and now you're in here speaking for all pizza makers.CHEEZY17 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 07, 2025 4:08 pmYour fingers get all wet and gross and then if you touch any other topping afterwards it has a residual pineapple taste. Did the pizza makers in that super popular delivery place stop and wash their hands every time they handled onions? Feta cheese? Hot Italian sausage? Black olives? Anchovies? Jalapeno peppers?......CHEEZY17 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 07, 2025 5:31 pmWell, we were a super popular delivery place with many pizza makers aside from myself that all felt the same way so I guess there's that. Because... you know... they were VERY concerned about residual flavor transfer between pizzas!

Re: Bacon is a worse topping than pineapple
Italian sausage is superior to pepperoni on a pizza.
More than 3 toppings is too much.
The bottom crust should have some crispness to it.
Bacon is a better topping for alternative style pizzas.

Re: Bacon is a worse topping than pineapple
I'll help you out Rick: none of those toppings are as "juicy" as stored, chopped pineapple. Stored sliced olives are close but that liquid is more watery as opposed to "syrupy" resulting in less flavor transfer. Obviously, "dry" toppings like pepperoni, ham, sausage etc. don't require the extra step.Reservoir Dog wrote: ↑Tue Jan 07, 2025 5:54 pmDid the pizza makers in that super popular delivery place stop and wash their hands every time they handled onions? Sorry, you can't grasp this complicated concept.
