There used to be a guy at all the concerts here back in the 80's, he was probably about 50 and I think all he did was walk the corridor and drink beer and piss his pants. I don't think he was there for the concert I think he liked pissing his pants and let people see it because at the start of the night, pants are dry, he's walking around and around in the corridor , which is what I always did, just walk around see all the people I know. And by the end of the night the guy is stumbling around and from the waist down and half way up his shirt was just soaked with piss. So we always would ask, "I wonder if old piss pants will be there tonight?" He just looked like a normal 8 to 4 type guy, not burn out type or anything, but really every concert back then he was there, and he'd pretty much just walk the corridor, drink beer, and piss himself. Hmmm...

Now if those brass balls began to contract with temperature change, i'm not sure even that configuration would lead to any spilling out. the change would be slow enough that the balls would adjust inward and remain in that same stacked pattern.

Correct. And it's just the monkey that is made of brass, not the cannon balls. Those are usually either iron or lead, neither of which expand/contract at the same, faster rate of the brass.
