Re: Gardening 2025
yeah I've read that stuff an really think heat . all day full sunlight and later in the day it seems to get really stron sunlight, almost 90 everyday. I bought a 6 feet square sunshade stuff and was going to put that up to block afternoon sun, it doesn't eleminate it or block airflow but I have the tiny little bees in the ground that don't bother me if I'm out just watering or checking whatever, but I have to pound some fenceposts in the ground for the shade material, so I'm a bit reluctant as I think the bees then may begin to bother me. Another thing that happened when I started the plants in little fiber seed starter cups they blew off my front step so I figured that messed them up and also had my 2 jalapenos and thought it really messed those up but the jalapenos are doing good now and the 2 cuke plants have about 200 blossoms but the accasional cuke is just inedible. I suppose if you were starving you'd eat them but they are really bitter. I think they were called national pickling cucumber? Just wait and see. My fermented ones are now really fermented, those are farm bought and those aren't bitter at all, but they're 4.25 for a quart or about 6 or 7 cukes which is why I'd like to grow my own. that farm the prices are very high. 10 ;bs of blueberries were 30 dollars or 5 lbs are 15.75 , then I go to local grocery store and they have michigan berries for 8.99 for 5 lbs, and that's pretty common with all their produce but they are very popular and I'm not there often but I usually see at least one customer just filling up a wagon with all sorts of stuff, as in $150 or so of stuff.

That's it, I can't fit any more flower needs in my yard without getting rid of my fire pit. I added 23 more dayliliy varieties yesterday. Pretty sure I have 50 different cultivars now.

Re: Gardening 2025
I was at a Home Depot in Ocala last week after I did a job there, and in the gardening section was a poor, mostly dead jalapeno plant, tiny thing with most of its leaves dropped off, and one singular little flower bud. It was such a sorry little sight, like a kitten on the road side. Since I bought some other stuff, the cashier didn't bother to ring up the $2.99 cost, she was going to throw it away.
I took it home, lovingly watered it, and carefully transplanted it into a nice clay pot. It's picked up, grown a nice canopy of leaves along with a half dozen more flower buds. And the one bud it came home with, it's already a small but growing fruit.

If you can't be a good example, you can still serve as a horrible warning.

Can’t wait to see what everyone’s growing this year!
I’m planning a mix of herbs, tomatoes, and definitely sunflowers again, they just make the space sooo bright. Also, if you’re refreshing your outdoor setup for the season, you can check out WickerPark they’ve got some great outdoor furniture

Re: Gardening 2025
I just planted 50 tulips and 100 muscatti in my yard and ripped out the peonies and hostas that were in my flower bed when I moved in. Next spring is going to be fun when I full all the holes in the beds I built this year. I've got to find an easy elegance rose by the name of campfire for a bed or 2. Really like the color change in it, from bright yellow and red to white and red.

Tulips are awesome. I wish I could grow them but every time I've tried the rabbits have a field day.Blast wrote: ↑Thu Oct 30, 2025 1:27 am I just planted 50 tulips and 100 muscatti in my yard and ripped out the peonies and hostas that were in my flower bed when I moved in.
